Note To My Readers --Issues, Issues, Issues; Back Wednesday

I've been away and dealing with some personal issues. Life issues that are obviously more important than mundane media minutiae but I thought it would be proper to let you know some things.

My mom is dealing with a heart matter, but being she's a tough cookie, is and will be stronger. The doctors are great and blunt too--oh, and it's a heart. Not a foot. Not an ear. A heart. For the past month or so I've been trying to get along, but with a heavy heart myself.

Suffice to say, the issues are at times overwhelming and there's days that are good and there's bad days too. I know one thing: compared to real life and real life issues, some things are just darn trivial and don't mean anything, including this.

So, sorry for the mystery--my bad, but I'm trying my best to balance my own life, (insert joke).

Again, for those of you that wrote me, (some of my enemies even) I cannot tell you how much it means to me and my mother. It's a cliché, but so be it: Thank you so very much for caring and your support. It helps, really, it so very much helps. God bless all of you.

If all goes well, I'll be back on Wednesday.

Rich

  1. Rich, hope all gets better for your mom, you, and your family.

When I hadn't seen a new post since the Bob Schieffer one, I was concerned something might be going on for your mother.

Best wishes, thoughts, and prayers for you both.

  2. Rich,
I assumed since you hadn't posted for a few days it had something to do with your mom's health and I didn't want to disturb you with a personal email figuring you would let us know when you were up to it. Hoping for the best. Thanks for updating us. Hugs!

  3. Enjoy and cherish the moments you have with your mom Rich, In the big scheme of things we are here on this planet for only a blink of an eye.
I'm your age and my folks are gone and would give anything to have some moments of time with them. You have nothing to apologize for. Wishing you the best.

  5. I cared for my elderly parents for several years before losing them. It was a very difficult time in my life. But you'll never regret one moment you spend with your Mom. Hope all is well soon.

  13. Rich, there will always be plenty of 'noise and nonsense' to uncover upon your return, so don't sweat it. We appreciate your inside scoops, but we all know that family comes first, so take care of the necessities before you get back to "dishing the dirt." All the best my friend!

  14. Hopefully Rich will learn something from this experience. Doesn't everyone, not just Rich Lieberman, deserve compassion?

    1. I'm of a similar mind as 8:55. I wish you and your Mom only the best, hope by now she's on the road to recovery. But you (Rich) have been incredibly arrogant and mean-spirited on many occasions in this blog, and published really nasty comments while suppressing respectful ones that just happened to disagree with you. Other people also have feelings, and eventually what goes around comes around. If this experience helps you internalize the line between being "assertive" and "arrogant", you'll come away a better person and probably a better journalist.

  18. Thanks for the update, Rich! When I hadn't seen an update in a while, I figured you were busy with other real life issues. Yes, there is more to life than hanging over a computer and posting to a blog. As you always say, this is YOUR blog and you may post and not post whenever you so desire. Family is so important and when a family member is dealing with any type of illness, especially something as serious as a heart issue, all these other "mundane" tasks must take a backseat to this thing called life. I pray your mom gets better quickly and I pray that you will feel strengthened as well. Blessings to you!!
