  1. I couldn't stomach the dreck today. Instead I listened to Forum podcasts. Did DreX have more set up calls today? I swear of G-d, even the hideous KC Bartholomeu is better than the DreXler.

  3. I listened for 20 minutes on my ride home. Let's just say i feel bad for all involved: Drex, the listeners, and anyone who works at that station. Just terrible.

  4. Tonight he spoke about American Sniper, a movie he hasn't seen. Nothing better than a host without am opinion.

The highlight of KGO tonight was how they're running commercials for NASH FM on KGO! Have you ever heard of such a thing? Asking your audience to turn the dial to another station?

    That's "the new KGO."

    1. Yes Great suggestion, ... turn to NASH FM when you're sick of all the BS
Filler & fluff, faux news & traffic.

      KGO target audience ...... alcoholic & drug-ees.
Now KGO to the liquor store now !

  5. So sad driving home tonight and missing the old KGO where there would always be an engaging topic and interesting discussion and debate. Maybe the concept that worked so successfully for so long at KGO will eventually be re-discovered. You’ve got to hope that there are still enough intelligent people in the Bay Area who want a forum like the old KGO.

    1. Of course there are plenty of people who want intelligent discussion of issues of the day. We were faithful KGO listeners when they were TOP 5 in the market. We now listen to forum, bbc, Al Jazeera and those of us who speak Spanish and Hebrew can listen to an even broader range of stations. I feel embarrassed for the dreck man. He might be worse than Mo Langston. THAT'S BAD!

  6. Wonder if DreX has paid his AFTRA fees after being out of radio for five years. I've heard bad, but last night was beyond the pale. Got to the point where he got to the point of going quiet, running out of things to say. DreX has a "disconnect" with the miniscule audience on topics worse than PG&E in a power disconnect. No wonder Clear Channel axed him. He's not even a good FM "personality" - especially since he's never done "talk radio." He got a job - that's all. Dick Bartley, who worked at DreX' former station in Chicago, would be laughing all the way to kingdom come to hear this. DreX worked at what was the former WFYR in Chicago and as morning guy for Clear Channel, did pretty well, until Clear Channel mysteriously cut him lost five years ago. What the hell's going on over at KGO? The "testimonials" to the uniqueness of the DreXilator are part of the Cumulus legend of bullcrap. He'll be gone in short time. Maybe he will be smart enough to quit before h meets the same fate about to behold the "red carpet entertainer." I've heard bad after 40 years in the business, but this guy (and the entertainer mentioned) are idiots and have no place in good and major market radio.

  7. I listened to him for about 40 minutes last night (half of that being news and commercials) and had to change it back to Alan Colmes on 910. Horrible radio! I'd say bring back John and Jeff who filled in on weekends 5-6 months back. They're also out of towners (LA area) but discussed bay area topics and we're at least listenable.

    1. John and Jeff were very average and there was a lot of nonsensical giggling. Cumulus is not about to pay two people. The answer for the evening slot was David Weintraub but Renee Bakos had Randall Bloomquist fire him for no apparent reason. Assuming he is in the Bay Area I imagine he will make them wish they did not do that.

    2. That's going a little far to say the "answer" was David Weintraub. Although he was better than Drex, he wasn't good either. Pat Thurston or Christine Craft would be better than Weintraub and Drex.

    3. I could not disagree more. Hearing him a few weeks ago on Talk 910 was a complete departure from his time on KGO. Sounded like two different people but I only started hearing him on KGO this summer. Besides Christine and Pat have had years to prove themselves and never have really made a statement. This guy was on KGO for what? A year? The only knock is he does seem to talk about sports too much for my taste since I don't care about sports.

    4. I agree about David Weintraub. He is the only local host with an intelligent and engaging show that is respectful to callers. Kind of like Gene used to be.

    5. I have to believe all these pro-Weintraub posts are from Weintraub himself. Comparing himself to Gene Burns is like comparing a stiff like Sasha Vujacic to Michael Jordan. Come on man, you gotta be kidding!

  8. Who really cares? That's the saddest comment you could make about this sorry show and a once proud station that is now struggling just to stay respectable in the ratings. Who cares? Cumulus killed more than half of their audience a few years back when they fired all the talk show hosts and went mostly news. Then after two years of getting absolutely humiliated in the ratings by KCBS, they decide to bring back some talk shows, and this guy (appropriately named, for he is surely Dreck) is the best they can do? I guess that is what you have to expect from the Dick-heads and their astonishingly foolish 'business plan for radio,' (if you want to call it that.)

  9. Usually when a new host starts, his first 2-3 shows are well prepared, plenty of interesting topics ready to go, etc. This was an embarrassment. A Justin Bieber discussion? Talking about a movie you haven't seen yet? What a waste of time. I'm all for younging it up, but come on, this is a joke. Used to be you needed experience to be on in a major market. Who does this guy have pictures of?

  10. David Weintraub? Seriously? You people want him back on the air? Jersey trash with an attitude. Thinks his stuff didn't stink. Ask the current staff what they thought of him since he was hired. He was hired as a board op and producer for The crappy Chef on weekends then convinced Jared Hart that he was the next king of KGO. How did that work out?

    1. Angry much? I know David well and that's not accurate. Him and Jared didn't even get along very well. David didn't like Ronn and jared and Ronn were attached at the hip.

    2. For your information, Ronn couldn't and still can't stand Jared. And who cares if Weintraub didn't like Ronn. That had no bearing on anything. Let me guess, you never worked there during the good days, right? Ever know Mickey, Jack or any ND there that wasn't Hosley ? I thought so. Enjoy " KGO"

    3. I'll never forget Weintraub's disastrous first show and the next day when he swaggered over to the 415 media to proclaim in false bravado that he was the shit! LMAO.

  11. He tried to start a new Buzz Word calling the Bay Area the Gay Area.

  12. Well, Thursday's Drex show has been the best, so far. That's because it was only on for half an hour He didn't even have time to complain about the traffic.

    1. Half an hour is not nearly enough time to cram a few fake callers! Was the DreX-man preempted by the Cal game? Go Bears!
