  1. This is from the HOLIDAY 2014 PPM rating period which is largely ignored.

    1. Right, I'm sure we will see a huge surge in audience for the Cumulus cluster once they get beyond the insignificant holidays!

    2. It is saleable next December to clients who launch Holiday radio ad campaigns. That's when it pays off.

  2. Speaking of radio..Bill Romonowski told off Damon Bruce,to his face live on air. "You must hate your life, you're so negative".."I only listen to your show for 5 minutes, then I turn it off- every time I listen because your are so negative" Bruce, came back with "I love my life,I'm in San Francisco and I have a radio show" Romo kept going.."YOU are anti 49er. I watched a game with you and couldn't stand that you were negative"
    Yes,negative was a popular word.
It went on like that. When Bruce started his show he said " Romo must be angling for a 49er coaching job (possible I think). And then D.Bruce went with the usual "I'm not paid to be a fan" I don't have to write all that out.
Bruce did bring up Romo should be the last person to bring up personal insults. I think that a reference to Romo's dirty player reputation, steroids, sucker punching..like that.
    I'm glad I caught it.

  3. The reason KGO fell during the holiday book is because everyone was preparing for the holiday party Cumulus threw them.

    Oh, wait. Right.

  4. "KNBR down; 95.7 FM The Game drops to "disturbing level"--amid more speculation of management changes"

First off, KNBR may be down overall, but why not tell the whole story rather than misinforming your readers? It was the Holiday book which is largely dismissed. That said, KNBR pulled a 3.6 this book while a year ago, it was a 3.4. For this period, KNBR was #1 25-54 for the second book in a row while also picking up a full share as it rose from #10 to #7 with 18-34.

As for The Game, a year ago they pulled a 1.0 over the holiday book. This year brought them a 1.2. I'm not sure how a year-over-year increase could be considered "disturbing". As for "speculation of management changes", you've been singing that tune for a couple years now. While I believe The Game does need PD change, you need to find a new tune to sing or at least provide some proof or, at the very least, a disclaimer that this is nothing more than your opinion.

  5. EVERY market release of Nielsen's Holiday 14 book so far, this first wave of results, had the "Christmas station" WAAAAY out in front in totals 6+. In Philadelphia, WBEB had almost a 16 share. There seems to be a lot bigger lead this year than there was last Christmas (so far).

  6. Most younger people have sirius xm in their cars, so local radio is falling behind more and more.

    1. Terrestrial radio continues to fall behind, but largely due to phones/bluetooth running apps like Spotify and Pandora, not Sirius XM.

    2. There are 7 million people in New York City. There are 7 million people with Sirius/XM. I think your numbers are off.

The reason the talk companies are failing is because they don't offer a good product. Nothing more, and nothing less.

    3. Pandora: 150M+ users
      Spotify: 60M+ users
      Sirius: 25M+ users

What does the amount of people in NYC have to do with anything?

    4. Excellent point.

Young people are NOT listening to the radio. They are listening to the internet streams, sirius, etc and turning the radio OFF.

      Very scary.

  7. 3 months in and Bloomberg Radio has failed to show up in the ratings. With that signal I guess they're not expecting the station to do much anyway.

    1. Is it just me or does the audio from Bloomberg Radio suck?

Sounds like they're in a cave. As if the content wasn't bad enough already.
