  1. I can see why some people might not like her, but I find her to be smart, versatile and funny. She's one of the few middle-age (or older) women in media and I'm glad she's around.

  2. She's a loud-mouthed blowhard who thinks she's still relevant. Saw her the other day and I felt bad for her.

  3. I like her, regardless of the slings and arrows aimed her way...

  4. We're just not used to her type here on the west coast. In New York your surrounded by women like her so after a while it's like living near the airport - you don't even hear it anymore. But yes, she is an annoying blowhard who thinks the worls revolves around her - well, maybe...

  5. Rich, you're scraping the bottom of the barrel for topics. Attempting a poll of your readers, including myself, to ridicule Ms Wahl is childish and pedestrian. Very unprofessional.

I hope you post this but I have my doubts. I would like to see your readerships responses.

  6. I just throw up a little in my mouth.

And @3:42 PM, Exactly and thank you!

  7. She looks like a quarterback for the other team.

  8. She's like comfort food, meat loaf and mashed potatoes. Usually pretty plain and never spicy. I don't object to her but I wouldn't go looking for her.

  9. If she were a man, would you have asked this question and would you have gotten these mean responses? Anonymous posters seem to feel free to be nasty. The world is harsh enough. If you don't like her, don't watch or tune in. I've tuned out to several people who are not my cup of tea.

    1. Marcia, your entirely reasonable "If you don't like her, don't watch or tune in" suggestion is anathema to the 415 Media cohort.

The guiding principle here is, if you don't like her, watch her all the time so you can complain about each and everything thing she says or does that bothers you.

  10. She is a copycat, the hat and fake Mae West impressions are unoriginal. The commercials annoying. I think her reviews are fine, not great but fine. She really has nothing that defines her.

  11. She's an out-of-touch nutjob who still works 1-2 days a week just so she can still be on TV in between getting paid to go on cruises for old people and then "review them" (shocker, they're all THE BEST CRUISE EVER.)

In the odd instance that I actually see her review a new movie (usually she's talking about some old movie that nobody remembers) if it's something I was considering seeing, she usually hates it. Which usually means it's going to be a good movie.

  12. She's annoying as long as she doesn't look like the women on Fox News. Have her movie commentary come out of Megyn Kelly's mouth, then it's inspiring. I guess annoyance is all relative.

  13. Rich - you're sick. I see her and I think of my Grandmother. And im in my 50's, Sex Symbol... ugh.......
She does her job and does a good one. Not great - but that's her shtick.

  14. Speaking of sex symbols... I'm surprised that no one has waded into the Fire Chief Hayes' mess.
How can she possibly pass the very physical fitness standards her frontline employees are required to?
What is up with the dreadful uniform the Chief's wear- ill fitting, no style of any kind, 50 year old look. I get tradition and all, but that's embarrassing for a world class town.
To have the majority of your team voting against you, how can she possibly stay?

  15. "Anonymous posters seem to feel free to be nasty. The world is harsh enough."

You must've missed the satellite interview where she sandbagged Quentin Tarantino. One might easily consider THAT "nasty" and "harsh."

  16. You're right, Anonymous at 3:21 PM - I missed it. I don't watch much local TV, only tuning in if there is a local story of interest.

There are many other options for getting news and information. I started reading this blog after the KGO blowup a few years ago. Some of the posts are interesting and I've learned a lot from Rich and the posters about local media. Some posts are about people and events I'm not aware of or don't care about.

  17. I work with Jan on a weekly basis. You may not agree with her reviews & opinions, but she's one of the few on-air people in this market who actually knows something about "the biz." (Extensive background in front of and behind the camera.) Jan is not merely an entertainment reporter because that happened to be the "open" position at the time.

  18. "There are many other options for getting news and information."

With foreign news--both print and TV--being among the best.

  19. She's a disgusting pig that somehow found her way into Bay Area media. I met her once many years ago when she was on KRON. I found her to be dismissive, superior and something else...I think she was doing way to much Red Bull or Monster drink at the time. Oh...they didn't have that shit in 1995. Maybe it was speed.
