Who's The Biggest Bitch in SF Media? Friday Poll

This is the dictionary definition of bitch: (1) Word used to describe the act of whining excessively.

It's usually associated with women but there exists guys out there who are also bitchy. I mean, serious attitude-central, narcissistic dickheads. Some of these bitches work in Bay Area media. I know a few. Have worked for many. They're all over the place.

I've been called an asshole, many times a bitch too. I know that's shocking to many of you but I took it in stride. It's nice to be acknowledged and loved.

That said, a new Friday poll: Who's the biggest bitch in SF media?

Be responsible when you post and try to limit any specific dirty laundry. I know, life's a bitch.

Oh yeah, Lieberman took it stride. We've all seen how Rich takes things "in stride."

  8. @422 - I know Amy and husband Paul personally from our Petaluma roots. You are 360 wrong on her. I won't call you any names but suffice to say you would not say that to her face with Paul nearby nor would you say it to her if you knew how dedicated she is at her craft. I think you are venting to the wrong person. Jim Morehead and Larry Baer hired Amy and her machinations are pre-scripted if you will. She does what her employer asks her to do.

    1. Well in that case, she'd make a damn good actress to be a phony baloney being the ho for the Giants.

    2. So what would Paul do? Is that some sort of veiled threat? Not the first post that has implied that this Paul G character has some anger management issues.

Amy G may be a hard worker, and a lover of baseball. She writes well, and she seems to possess decent people/PR skills. But her work in front of the camera stinks, and her baseball knowledge is very limited. The vast majority of posters, on multiple boards that I visit, have an extremely negative opinion of her on-air work. She detracts from the game and team special telecasts.

    3. So, 5:12 by you saying 4:22 is 360 (degrees) wrong on Amy G, does that mean he's right?

    4. @7:11 I have to wonder why they shorten her last name? Hmm? The Dodgers wouldn't shorten that last name, they'd promote it.

    5. I have wondered too, 12:00 AM. They never used Cammy B, Kate L, Mindi B, Jaymee S, or Casey S for the others who have been in that capacity.

  11. There is a barrage of comments on this website criticizing business entities and individuals for promoting local teams, for example criticizing Amy G. for her work for the Giants.

Most of this self-righteous indignation is along the lines that Amy G. or KNBR, whoever is favoring the local team. DUH, yeah, that's what they do, that's what is done everywhere. Broadcasters hired BY THE TEAM, the radio station that BROADCAST THEIR GAMES, other entities that have a direct financial interest in the team do promote the team. It is not a sin to market and sell merchandise that promotes the team.

None of these parties are expected to be neutral. If that's what you thought, you are wrong. They are not unbiased observers. Everyone knows that.

Whoever made you think they can't be partisan is wrong and your foolish belief to the contrary is your own shortcoming and no one else s.

A few local blonds are really into the icy act. But,what can they do? That's how hot blonds are supposed to act..its expected of them to be chilly and off putting. Society demands it!

  14. So much negativity. Where is this post getting us?

  15. Amy G. is a waste and is incredibly lucky to even have a part time job with the Giants. The fact that Jim Morehead and Larry Baer and Ted Griggs actually hired this bimbo is a testament to their complete lack of respectf or media professionals or having any kind of understanding of what it takes to be an on-air pro. I've been college kids that much more talentedr than Amy G. She hasn't gotten any better since she first appeared on the Giants' broadcasts several years back. The woman obviously never took a public speaking or announcing course in college, because she's got a terrible voice, aa she sounds like a teenaged girl, and she has no business talking baseball because she hasn't learned a thing about the sport. She give other women who are trying to get into the profession a bad name, and oh yes, finally, she's what one of Rich's posters once referred to as "an annoying clucking hen." Does she deserve the SF area 'Bitch' award? You bet!

    1. How many minutes a year do people actually see Amy G. on their TV screen? Maybe 10 minutes.

I can't believe the trivial crap some people get worked up about.

      Delete
    2. She's there because of the Feminization of America movement. Unfortunately Damon was right. It's not PC to say so, but he did. Corporations are trying to get the other half of the audience in to sports. It all comes down to money, very simple. More audience = more money.

      Delete
    3. But why do these corporations think we (women) want to listen to the interruptions all during the game from some female roaming around the stands asking dumb questions? They are that shallow -- thinking women might only be interested in a sport if they see a woman floating around?? I'd say it's just as likely they put her on there for the men to look at. Wouldn't most women rather look at the male athletes???!! But no matter what, it is a big annoyance when you want to just watch the game. I turn the tv sound down & only listen on the radio so I never really listen to her anyway.

      Delete
    4. You make some good points Molly. Male or female most interruptions are not wanted.I was thinking from the corporate execs point of view and not my own. Also, most females I know that like to watch sports do need to see female sideline reporters to be interested.

    6. 7:01 PM,

There are 81 regular season home games a year, and Gutierrez works almost all of them. Pregame, game, and post game segments that add up to well over 10 minutes per telecast. Add Spring Training, a few away games, CSNBA field reports, several Giants specials, and playoff games when applicable, and this woman gets plenty of time in front of a camera.

  16. Damon Bruce is an egotistical, me-first, "look at me, I know everything," loudmouth who thinks his own farts down smell. The fact that that idiot PD at 'The Game" thinks he's solving a ratings problem by hiring this nit-wit is a clear example of why that piss-poor FM station is not listened to by many people.

Giant's #1. With all the heat on the team the last couple of days in your comments section perhaps you could write about this. ftr I'm against what they have become.

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. If he won't, I will. Why have the Giants become what's perceived as having the No. 1 most loyal fan base (even over the Red Sox, Cubs, Yankees and Cardinals)?

      1) the ballpark. it's too good for them.
      2) two World Series titles. the front running event loving bay area loves a winner. and with all of the transplants living here, they spread their positive vibes about the giants throughout the country.
      3) how the giants seem to have the media in their pockets. they're an owner of KNBR. Be dammed if they allow any negative comments there or on their crystal set partner (1050). you rarely see hank shrillman or john shea what ever say anything negative in the chronicle. and you know damn well comcast and kntv will say everything's rosy.
      4) thanks to No. 3, they can force the media to put positive spins on things like barry zito's farewell -- he was treated like a king when his run ended. actually, he was the biggest waste of free agent dollars by this team. and in another act of lunacy, duane kuiper's election into the hall of fame. duane kuiper? for what? putting up with krukow?

and that's the truth. come on front running giants fans, get out your panda hats, beads and other chotskies and start writing.

I've noted in a couple of posts that Amy writes well, and have also commented favorably about knowledgable female sports reporters (Mindi Bach, Jaymee Sire, Suzy Kolber, Gayle Gardner). In regard to Amy's on-air work and overall baseball knowledge, we strongly disagree.

9:33 PM. At this point, I would rather watch Cammy.

    4. I've won an Emmy (2) and I think Amy G. sucks. Nice person but her role on the Giants broadcast is useless.

    7. 6:27 PM,

Audrey Hepburn knew more about baseball!

Re: Cammy, she took her "rough around the edges" act too far during the Giants telecasts. She even got rude with a fan during an interview, which seemed highly inappropriate. Then again, Amy (thinking she was off-camera) once shot Bochy an absolutely filthy stank-eye when he deferred on a live interview. Bochy first wanted to congratulate his players after a milestone win, and Amy was clearly indignant.

    ReplyDelete
  40. I'm not crazy about the role Amy G plays for the Giants ( "I need my baby fix!" ), but she's good at it, and I know for a FACT that off-camera she is bends over backwards to be nice to the fans. She's legitimately a good person. So people can come in here and call her a bitch, but I vehemently disagree.

My vote is Bob Fitzgerald, he's so thin-skinned and hostile to callers to his radio show. He's never wrong. God, that gets old.

    ReplyDelete
  41. Ralph used to infuriate me, but I listened to him practically every day. He wore his heart on his sleeve, he took a stand and if you didn't like it, tough s*&t. He lost his mind on the air during the OJ trial and I loved that. He went out of his way to rip the Raiders and I hated that.

I hope you're doing well, Ralph, I miss you.

    ReplyDelete
  42. Why all the talk about 'Amy G.' anyway? Who is she but some bimbo who got lucky because she does soft puff pieces and does what Larry Baer wants her to do on the air. Her thin-skinned husband obviously doesn't appreciate it when people are constantly ripping his wife, but I guess that's to be expected if she's going to be on a prominent broadcast on a regular basis. Still, we've heard more than enough about this less than mediocre talent who as many have pointed out, is an embarrassment to the Giants, to Comcast, to women sportscasters everywhere, and to the bay area. Let's move on to another subject. Amy G. doesn't warrant nor even deserve to be talked about anymore. If you don't like her, do as I do and mute the sound whenever he annoying little baby-voice comes on the air.

    ReplyDelete
  43. Hey Paul G. guess what? Your wife is a public figure who is on display in front of thousands of bay area TV viewers. Therefore she's subject to criticism. If you or she can't handle it, perhaps she should get into another profession where she's not subject to this kind of scrutiny. But if she's going to interrupt Giants' game constantly with her annoying baby-voice and imbecilic questions, then she's going to have to expect us fans to express our displeasure with her work. So get over it already!

    1. I several years back contributed to a Wikipedia article on Jennie Zelasko, who used to be the studio anchor for Fox's baseball coverage during most of the 2000s. Anyway, I added a portion to her article on an interview that she did with the legendary Detroit Tigers broadcaster Ernie Harwell at the 2005 All-Star Game in Detroit. I acknowledged that Zelasko online took heat for the way that she handled the interview. When Ernie Harwell was trying to discuss the contributions of Al Kaline, Zelasko about 72 seconds in abruptly ended the interview. Anyway to cut to the chase that portion was deleted several times by what it turned it to be Zelasko's brother-in-law. Ultimately, he warned me to think about his sister-in-law's children before bringing any decidedly negative stuff about her career on Wikipedia.
