The Land of 'Tolerance' is Mostly Intolerant And a Few More Things About Michael Savage

SAVAGE and The Bastion of Tolerance is the capitol of Intolerance

How is that San Francisco and the Bay Area--the liberal/progressive palace of tolerance is so intolerant?

Kind of ironic.

Worse yet, the posers in this town are third-rank amateurs. Hiding behind their masks and shields. Cowards and phonies.

I hate to start the day off so negatively but you make it impossible. I didn't hear the Savage show on Wednesday but heard my name and 415 Media was mentioned and prominently so. Let me start out by saying I'm a fan of the Savage Nation. He's interesting. He entertains me. He's not the gospel by any sort of means but he's quite spot on in many illustrations but not for everyone's taste. And he's the greatest story-teller on radio hands down. So there. Put away your blinders for a moment and listen to the man. Screw the politics and just LISTEN. You might even laugh a little yourself. It may help later on with the boss, your wife, girlfriend, your husband, mistress, whomever...

See, I've said this a million times: Savage is brilliant. I don't think I 'd want to work for him because there could be tension. All I want is entertainment. I don't need lectures from morons who think he's evil and dire straits. He's on the damn radio, for god's sake, get a life. And he's a master at the almost impossible: he can work the room. Name me someone who can hold an audience for ten minutes in today's insane environment? You can't. Posers. Cowards.

And let's address another thing while we're at it. I haven't received a penny from Savage. I should be so lucky. Besides I'd rather have a corned-beef sandwich at Tommy's Joynt. Savage is a fan of my site. Maybe he likes me because I listen ardently to the show. On the other hand when I'm critical of his occasionally loony-tune rants he doesn't berate me. I have a pretty good track record. There's days when he overloads on the Obama hysteria and I turn the dial. Political radio is lazy radio. That's why Levin and Rush and Hannity are beginning to sound tired because their shows are repeats of yesterday. Only yesterday is today. Same-old tired material. Sounds like the test pattern on TV, the national anthem at midnight on the tele that signified the end.

Bay Area, get a grip. Don't be a bunch of pussies. Wake up and smell the roses. Get out of the house and run, exercise a little, (I've been doing it a lot lately--great for the endorphins) and get your head out of your ass. Savage is the most honest man on radio. He's not curing cancer or reinventing the wheel but a lot of what he says makes sense, a foreign concept for some of you still migrating in People's Park and saving the whale. I got news for you, Berkeley has been lost for years now and Telegraph avenue has a Bank of America perched on it. Mario Savio is gone. Wavy Gravy is a ghost and Café Med is tattered. Even Spengers has been destroyed and Brennans was cleaned up and the food sucks now.

Back to point Savage is a decent bargain in a world that a little too busy these days. We're on the brink of World War 3 in Ukraine with a ticking time bomb that could go off any moment. We become infatuated with a missing plane that seems to have more of a story yet will probably have little impact on our increasingly marginalized life. We worry a lot about the small stuff. We should pay attention more to the little things like people living on the brink who live paycheck to paycheck and quit kvetching about a guy on the radio offering meatball recipes.

Bay Area, land of tolerance...really now? Baloney.

  1. If that didn't get the nasty comments rolling, then this will.

The news media is not covering Holder's Fast and Furious shenanigans, or the Benghazi coverups well.

There is a large degree of racism towards whites and intolerance towards Christians these days.

I am not rabblerousing, but stating truths about our current society that reflect on the intolerant "coexist" crowd.

    1. There is no intolerance towards Christians. There is intolerance to Sharia law here in the US. Most of the strident Christians want the government to be run according to Christian doctrine which is against my constitutional rights, whether I am a Christian or not.

There is no "Sharia" law in the United States. There is only Constituitional law as written by our elected representatives in the various legislatures.

The Article VI "Supremacy Clause" says so.

    5. Dear 10.14,
Obviously you don't realize the GOP deliberately defunded the security budget for the state department hoping that a weak and ineffective security posture overseas would embarrass Obama.

Granted, the state department under Hillary made a calculated judgement to beef up security with what little security funding they had and they choose Tripoli instead of Benghazi, chances are the attack on Benghazi planners knew in advance that this target was weakly defended and made for a spectacular propaganda event for all who would use this debacle for pure political gain.

Both the organization involved in perpetrating the attack and the GOP which has shamelessly used this travesty to constantly harangue Obama completely ignoring the extenuating circumstances regarding the denied state department security funding designed to weaken and embarrass the appearance of whomever was in charge of the state department and the President in charge at the time.

Clearly George Dubya's failures were excused because there was clearly NO Democrat that could conceivably be blamed for those security oversight failures at those embassy's.

Not like 9/11 which the GOP constantly shirked responsibility for and ignored over 52 CLEAR WARNINGS and tried to blame Clinton for long after he was no longer in office and long after Clinton's administration had warned the incoming Bush regime about Al Qaeda long before any warnings starting streaming across Bush's desk unheeded and ignored until the neo-cons were convinced political gain was theirs for the political taking/exploitation by the senseless avoidable tragedy of 9/11.

Sharia law, in the United States of America, indeed. What goes on in some minds confounds me.

    8. 1:52. Still blaming "W"? WOw. Shameless. No, there was no negative media coverage during Bush II's presidency. None at all…

Oh, regarding sharia law, yes, it is coddled here while any display of the Christian faith is derided at best, banned quite often. Oh, and those who would be outraged at a blanket statement such as "all muslims are terrorists" might want to think about statements or thought processes that lump all Christians under one negative stereotype...

    11. I agree with 10:04 Why haven't we seen major coverage of the Senator Leland Yee scandal on main liberal news outlets? Every time I turn on MSNBC or CNN all I see is another story about Bridgegate or gun control.

The most racist, class-ist, intolerant people I have ever met were liberals. the elitist class in Palo Alto is a prime example of this very subject.

Conservatives generally believe everyone is entitled to an opinion, no matter what. Liberals seek to shut down opinions especially those that that they don't agree with

  3. Frankly, I'd rather hear Rich's choice of class morning songs once a day than indigestion inducing rants about Savage --- and his being a phony "entertainment" source instead of a normal human being. Too many "entertainers" posing as talk show hosts these days. Talk about "Posers" -- save your energy. They all sound the same and the magic wheel has, for the next three months, landed on Savage. He'll fall apart, just like he did on MSNBC and in his radio past. Rich, don't be his stooge. Please keep the hits comin'.

    3. If someone is a hypocrite - left or right - yeah, I have a problem with it. But I don't see why someone who is racist, ignorant or at the very least "playing a character" who is trolling for dollars, should be tolerated any more or less than they tolerate others. Do unto others man...

    1. It goes on because of the money. A friend of mine who lives in Denver has done IT consulting all over the world and says that stinky, slimy, freeze-you-out thing is generally symptomatic of environments where everyone's covering up due to trying to keep out those who aren't welcome or want to breach the status quo. He says Switzerland is absolutely notorious for that. I would have never dreamed but hey, Noah's a sharp dude. He bailed me out more than one, more than twice. He had a bad leg, hope he got it fixed. The man doesn't need money but I think he just hates doctors.

  9. Savage is a bargain, because he has no power. No influence,no politician worries what Savage has to say about him because Savage delivers no votes, just only ratings. And politicians don't seek any favors from him,if anything they would avoid his backing like the plague.

    2. You have no idea what you're talking about.

Savage has conservative view points but is an independent. The GOP doesn't serve conservatives, only corporations, and he won't blindly tow the party line. So... the gop has no outward use for him and likewise.

His views undermine the lib's narrative (sweetness, fairness, compassion, etc.) but again, their disguised objective is serve the corporations.

Savage's audience is the conservative independent, the thinkers, and their votes are needed in the close races/initiatives, so saying he has no impact on politics is pure foolishness. You naively gravitate to the polar political framing that the politicians want to trap you in. Basically...your one of the suckers.

    7. Why should Savage or anybody with half a mind be tolerant of what the left and right has been offering us? Over 40% of voters identify as independents, even you can do the math, that's more than democrat or republican. We connected the dots and discovered that the partisan political game isn't working. The country is imploding and our constitutional rights are a becoming extinct as we speak due to the divisions and policies and you want tolerance? You're on pot.

Just say it out loud Stan...your a good for nothin free loader and like that the liberal politicians pat you on the back for being so.

  10. Michael Savage is a lame, dysfunctional, angry man who is probably not very happy to boot. Why do you want to listen to his warped ideas and idiotic rants anyway? I would rather listen to muzak on the radio than hear that phony jerk-off spout off his nasty, hate-filled vitriol. Don't get me wrong...I don't mind a conservative view when it's presented in an even handed and intelligent manner. Bill Buckley used to do this nightly on his TV show 'Firing Line." I didn't agree with Buckley very often, but I felt as if I was learning something when I watched his show. There is nothing to learn from Michael Savage because he is a charlatan who likes to 'entertain' rather than inform. And that's the problem folks. We live in a nation where we would rather be 'entertained' than informed about issues. That's why the Limbaughs, Hannitys, and yes, even the Jon Stewarts of the media world have more influence on forming Americans' opinions than someone like Jim Lehrer. I guess we really have become an attention deficit-oriented society, because if we refuse to understand what's going on because actually reading or listening to a report that's longer than 30 seconds on the air is "boring,' then we get what we pay for. I frankly am astonished Rich, that you continue to give this jackanapes any kind of notice!

    1. Yes, and I can tell you why. It's a town of people who have inherited money, have made money far too easily or for that matter have had lives that were far too easy. We see it all through the Bay Area. Go to Marin and it's real bad, East Bay not so much. There are pockets of reality over here.

This is the home of the left wing mafia but I will also tell you their influence is waning. Why? The rich Baby Boomers are getting older and the elderly hippie with money thing is finally beginning to fade. Walk into Lunardi's downtown Danville and you'll see plenty of it. Walk into Xenia (bistro in Alamo), sit at the bar, order a drink and watch the people. You'll get a snoot full of it.

So yeah, we're at the epicenter of political correctness but guess what? I don't care. I work for a consultancy that's out of state (the various protected class self appointed bosses can't get to my boss who wouldn't care anyway) and my wife has a relatively stable job with the state. There's absolutely nothing stopping me from (figuratively speaking) unslinging my weapon when one of these retards starts screwing around with me. At 72 inches tall, 280 lbs and with my bald head, they don't try it anyway. People don't mess with me and I like it that way, makes life easier for everyone.

    2. Funny, when you give a fact you have to then give evidence.

Otherwise you're submitting an unsubstantiated opinion, but because you can't tolerate dissent, you're calling it a fact.

      You're intolerant, in other words.

You might want to go to your dictionary and look up the words "fact" and "intolerant."

Not leaning either way with my observation but accuracy is important whether you listen to them, or not. You write about bay area radio.

As to Savage, I can only stand about 10 minutes before his NY accent gets to me. That's just me, not his message. I would like to read his famous stories if in print because you recommend them.

  14. You are spot on about Savage, Rich. I could care less about the political rants, but he's like that uncle who comes to dinner and you see at family gatherings. He's not gonna change his opinion that nearly everyone in the family finds outrageous but is entertained by. We shake our heads but many listen. As for his humor and story-telling, hands-down, the best I've ever heard on radio. Many cannot get past his politics. Just as you said, you turn the dial, and I have read several times where you've been critical of Savage. For those who say you write to impress him and be mentioned on his show, they might want to read a recent column where you were not very complimentary to him.

The Savage I like is similar to the Savage you like. I love the stories about his dog, his other dog that has passed on, his forays into going to get food, bike rides, his "boat", his beautiful new old Jag convertible (I love classic cars and have built a considerable vault of photos of such classics).

He's like my Uncle No-No, who passed on when I was younger. Uncle No-No was an immigrant from Italy and lived in The City. Even when my Mom took me and my brother to say our farewells to him in a San Francisco Hospital, I remember my Mom admonishing us to be on our best behavior, because "you know how Uncle No-No is."

It was a perfect name for an uncle.

Personally I am a huge fan of Michael Savage, and that is how I actually found you Rich.

  16. I guess you never heard a real New York accent? Like a Brooklyn accent, Savage is from New York and does have an accent, but it is not very pronounced.

    ReplyDelete
  17. The shame - and I do mean shame - of modern radio is that the business model doesn't work unless it's funded by political interests seeking to limit access to information to the American electorate. Read these comments, people just want to be entertained! But the hedge fund station owner [there are only a couple] need to disinform and scare people, not inform and entertain. They sure aren't making a profit off this dreck.

My kid and Savage's went to the same high school. I don't know if they were in the same class, probably, "Savage" wasn't infamous then.

He can tell a story, but that's not what he's paid to do. Why he needs to portray such a nasty human being is not my idea of entertainment. I tune in when stuck in Livermore and my AM and FM radio reception is blocked by the east bay hills until I pass Castro Valley.

    ReplyDelete
  18. All I got out of this post is that Rich goot his feefees hurt because not everyone bows down to Michael Savage's show on that old fashioned radio box. Somehow that means the Bay Area is intolerant.
The bay area would be more tolerant if it just a fan of the same garbage that Rich likes.
