The Best bRACKet in the Bay Area: KTVU's Rosemary Orozco plus Sunday Nuggets

I tune in Weekend "Mornings on 2" on KTVU --I'm more keen on the weather reports and the talents of Rosemary Orozco, call me curious.

*Clear Channel is able to operate with about $21 billion worth of debt. It's a toxic asset. Think of those of you that have ten credit cards, six or seven of which are maxed out so you use the others to pay down the maxis --Clear Channel has about a gazillion dollars worth of credit cards --they're all maxed but unlike you and me they get to keep on using theirs.

*If they nixed out Gil Gross and Frosty the Snowman that would free up about six bucks.

*Sarah and Vinnie from Alice: well-compensated groupies. Now put a lid on your disgruntled ex-comrades.

*CNN: PLANEly speaking, Jeff Zucker found a winning format. Screw those tiny little stories like Ukraine.

*Has there been any more satellite imagery from the Indian Ocean? We're due.

*It's not that Heather Holmes isn't worth nor talented it's more Allie Rasmus has the "IT" factor going for her: smart, quick, personality and just the right amount of gusto. And contrary to my anonymous anchor friend, she can ad-lib too. Extra credit points.

*Terry McSweeney-KNTV: better than first observed. And with Diane Dwyer and Rob Mayeda, a winning weekend news team.

*No, Marc Spears was not playing off the Ed Lee mangling of "Steve" Curry--he simply got an assist from some quick-thinking KNBR producer who bailed him out with a 3-point play.

*Damon Bruce Update: Even Hooters is reassessing.

*The figurehead Program Director at the alleged all-sports FM radio outlet is considering Brandon Tierney to join its morning zoo. I'm kidding of course but with this guy never rule anything out.

*Leslie Sbrocco: puff pastry.

*CSNBA's: Brodie Brazil: underrated.

  1. Brodie? Something about guys like him who are groomed to much that makes me not pay attention. The obsession with that George Micheal type half beard, half unshaven thing.
I listened to Stanford b-ball radio. If your going to go all homer, this is the year to do it. Even Fitz is slightly more palatable when the Warriors have a good season. Congrats to Dawkins..from firing line to final 8..amazing.

    1. Brodie works the Sharks games, and beards and "half beards" are common in that sport (especially during the playoffs). It is my impression that Brodie gets into the spirit of that from time to time. Plus, in general, that look is a trend nowadays. Brodie, being the accomplished and good looking man that he is, pulls it off well.

    2. Stan, yes congratulations are in order for Dawkins and Stanford but the win today takes them to the "sweet 16", not the final 8.

  2. Welcome to the party McSweenys the real dead. Not sure if he still does but when he got to SF he even SMOKED!!!

    1. Still cannot beat the LA market with the likes of Jackie Johnson and Evelyn Taft...or Marla, now at GDLA, with Maria Sansone, et al.....

  5. THANK YOU FOR THE TERRY MC SWEENY, DIANNE DWYER AND ROB MAYEDA
PLUG...THEY DESERVE IT. REALLY ENJOY THE NEWS WHEN THEY ARE ALL ON AT THE SAME TIME. DIANNE DID A FABULOUS JOB BEFORE TERRY CAME ON, BUT HE ADDS A SF ish SENSE OF HUMOR..

  6. In summation: you know nothing about KNBR or corporate finance? Is that what you're saying? Do you think sexist commentary is a winning formula for you?

  7. Yes Orozco is hot, in the same category as Liviakis.
You are wrong about the Spears bit, that isn't the first time they've done that.

    1. No, I'm right about the Spears "bit." I heard the entire show including the opening theme. He screwed up. If he was trying to be funny it didn't work.

      He's a poser.

    2. I heard it too! He was doing the Ed Lee bit. It wasn't real funny, but he knows Steph Curry. He lives in the area and does a lot of Warriors stuff for Yahoo including being on CSN. He has said Steph's name right 1000 times on air! Just because you take everything literal doesn't mean he is an idiot!

Yes he is a bit of a poser. It was the first time he ever hosted a radio show. Cut him some slack!!!!

  8. Brandon Tierney is part of the CBS morning show so the irony is that if KNBR ever makes syndicated changes, and they will, he'll be on 1050. Assuming he's not already. Lee Hammer hasn't had a unique idea in his life. I'm sure Bruce's replacement will be another no talent.

  9. You'd prefer CNN talked about Benghazi and belittle Hillary Clinton like another network prefers to do?

    1. Are you saying "tell the truth that other networks cover up"? Ignorance is bliss.

    2. Why would it be wrong to discuss Benghazi, when that is a news item that has actually been buried? Abu Ghraib warranted lots of news coverage years ago, but the brutal murder of four Americans when an American Embassy was sacrificed to terrorists due to incompetence at high levels, at best, doesn't?

    3. The world won't come to an end if the politician's/government's policies and procedures are scrutinized, but yours apparently will. I never been thought I'd be embarrassed to be an American.

  10. Rosemary definitely has a great rack

  11. Here's a truth bit. Is something wrong with Viki Liviakis? Some personal issue? She's really been garbling some words and names on KRON lately. The first time it was cute..the "erecting three men". The second time made me go huh when she did it on another word a week or so later. Then yesterday( Saturday) she did sports on KRON and seemed like she was hyper talking. When she tried to say (Stanford womans b-ball star) Chiney Ogwumike....she said -and try to follow- "Ch-ch,inee..Oh-god-woo, then Viki stopped...."I know her name,I shouldn't be getting it wrong". Then she said "Stanford's star basketball player".
It was like Jessica Savage,1986. Or a real anxiety attack. Somethings bothering her.

    1. I haven't watched her much lately, but I know what you mean. A year ago, or more, I started noticing she has a weird thing where her mouth moves when she's not talking (when interacting with someone else). And a few months back, either on a special (like the CES show) or one of her feature segments she seemed especially hyper, as if she were trying to "keep up" with each interviewee by being a half-step ahead of him/her. What popped into my mind was a medical condition or side-effects of some prescription Rx for a condition. Hope she is okay.

    2. I sure hope it wasn't like Jessica Savage, 1986. Jessica died in 1983.

    3. Maybe it was Jessica Savage who died in 1986....However
Jessica Savitch the anchor died in 1983 in a car crash

    4. Jessica Savitch the anchor was quite savage at times!

  12. The general public and the groupies may like Brodie Brazil but for knowledgeable Sharks fans he's a tool. Terrible bench interviews, trying to be buddies with Bret Hedican even tho Hedican is a Stanley Cup winner and looks at Brodie on the air like he's a wannabe homer. The only guy on that broadcast that is worse than Brodie is Kevin Kurz, the so-called insider. Kurz wouldn't know a hockey puck if it hit him on the side of the head..

  13. I (a former TV news photog) worked with McSweeney back in the 1980's at the "old" KNTV (ABC-affiliate days). He was one of my favorite people to work with. He knew his stuff---got everything done on the 1st take--had my tracks ready in plenty of time to edit. Great guy to drive with to a story--we'd talk about baseball (his beloved Giants).
