The SF TV News Directors

They work hard and are relentless. They practically sleep at the office and provide a much-needed jolt to staff morale and the rank and file. They are pursuers of the truth and are passionate about the concept of freedom of speech. They bleed contempt for those reporters who dare skip a Garth Brooks concert instead of covering an Ed Lee presser. They will OUT an assignment editor who doesn't send a correspondent to the Walnut Creek fountain for an MOS live shot. They live and breathe their job. They are the Cronkite and Koppel of today. Touch them. Giggle with them. Make goo-goo eyes with them after they leave the rest room. Let them know how much YOU appreciate them and tell them they are the greatest group in the Bay Area. Without them, we're all mush. Mush is gooey. Mush is bad. These people aren't mush. They are God. They are karma. They are us. All of us. They represent the truth and we're just damn humping happy and glad they're here. Peace and love.

  1. Rich, remember that (generally) quality>quantity. It certainly should apply here.

  2. Judging from the story selection on local TV and radio news, perhaps we could use a few less news directors. They often get scooped on Bay Area stories by national media. This is not an attack on solid reporters (there are some left). When I moved to the Bay Area, I was looking forward to finally being able to watch Bay Area news and listen to it on the radio. More than disappointed.
