KGO-TV Part of Potential ABC Sale of Big Market O and O's

Disney is strongly considering selling its massively lucrative O and O'
s, (owned and operated stations), in major markets including KGO-TV here in SF. The sale could generate a BILLION dollar payoff --with Sinclair Broadcast the rumored potential suitor.

So far, mum's the word at 900 Front, but staff is nervous as you could imagine.

Here's the original story from the NY Post.

  1. Oh no! I won't get anymore free Disneyland tickets or discounts. KNTV, here I come! They still have an association with Universal Studios, right?

    1. A little harsh, no? The woman can't be THAT bad. Seriously, what could she have possible done to elicit such a despicable reaction?

    2. Hey 10:29 what are you smoking?? Trixie is by just about every account a disaster. She's like the character in the Tootsie Movie, when the agent tells Dustin Hoffman. NO ONE WILL HIRE YOU. Fresno is now out of reach. How about Glendive, Montana?

    3. Hey 12:16 Google this:

Soon to be out of work News Director ABC 7. Earned the nickname "Trixie" during her Philadelphia days where she also wore out her welcome. Trixie manages budgets, and power-hungry which makes for a great mid-level Disney hack. Known around Disney watercoolers as the Wicked Bitch of the West, she's now excluded from Network or GM roles. And by they way.... did I forget to mention the numbers during the Trixie regime? They suck. Especially at 4. But Disney doesn't care about numbers right now- they want to cut payroll....what a match! Happy Holidays ABC 7 staff, to quote a line from Airplane...."picked a bad time to stop sniffing glue"

    5. I've worked with Tracey for many years in Fresno and she is not as bad as some of you make her out to be. Could she be hard to work with at times, sure, but who isn't? You can't be afraid to share your opinion with her and then back it up with good reasons. Then you'll earn her respect and trust.

  3. Where in the original does it say Sinclair...it mentions Sinclair's recent purchase, but ALSO highlights both Tribune's and Gannett's purchases, both of whom, in the scheme of things, are pretty good operators.

    1. Both Tribune and Gannett are better than Sinclair. They're bottom feeders.

  4. I saw an ad that says KQED's newsroom is back. I guess my 415 posts last year of the fall of Educational TV to a brand that carries shows on buying trinkets for the disposable income crowd in Danville, and then baby sitting those MILFs children with morning cartoons. KQED had no real purpose that I could see. Even Republicans weren't offended by KQED programming.
    Che,shed tears in Heaven.

    1. Huh, the above is unintelligible. The second sentence is incomplete.

Aside from that, if poor deluded Stan thinks that his blog comments effect KQED programming he needs to have his head re-examined.

    2. It moves you. So why not KQED? or are you admitting you wrote in because your an inferior person? Think better of thyself!
I love how people write 415 all angry and upset they are- and end with how "I'M" crazy to think what I write affects anybody. I just lol.

btw. One host is former ch5 reporter and Evening Magazine co -host, Thuy Vi. The other guy in the ad I have no idea who he is.

  5. Well, if it happens, I hope that ABC moves the affiliation to KICU for all of you that are so tweaked that the NBC affiliation isn't in San Francenter-of-the-relevant-universe, anymore.

  6. If the group is sold as a package, look for Scripps to be the likely owners, not Slumclair.

  7. Sinclair is the cheapest, cheesiest TV operator with a pronounced right wing bias. Is this just a scary Halloween rumor?

  8. Anon at 8:05...KICU runs out of KICU's plant in Oakland .....

  9. The problem with the so called 'liberal' media, is that there ISN'T much 'liberal' media out there, unless you want to include NPR and the NY Times, and a few other national and regional outlets. Most companies that own stations and newspapers are now owned by MEGA-CORPORATIONS that are more interested in profits, 'eyeballs' and 'ears' than they are in supplying content. That's why there's so much crap on TV these days. It sells because people will waste their valuable time watching or listening to it. That's why so many Americans are less informed than they'd like to believe. Give Americans junk food to watch and they'll eat it up, just as they do when they visit their friendly local McDonalds.
