SAVAGE: "I'll Be replacing 'Hannity on Cumulus Drive-Time Stations. --He's Finished."
Michael Savage, the bombastic, syndicated radio-host who has catapulted to the #2 most-listened-to radio personality boasted on his show Thursday night that he will be replacing Sean Hannity, (on radio), the radio/TV host on both Cumulus and Fox News Channel.
Savage, who's based in SF, (heard on KSFO, 6-9 PM), began his show with the theme song from "2001--A Space Odyssey." He offered a terse prediction. "Hannity is done. It's not that I don't like him but his ratings are down and there's a reason, (Roger Ailes), is replacing him with 'Meghan Kelly." Indeed it is widely rumored that Kelley will soon replace Hannity in FNC's prime-time 6 PM, (9 ET) program.
Hannity's radio program on Cumulus, (heard also on KSFO from Noon -3 PM), has also taken a ratings beating, probably due in large part to his regular daily anti-Obama diatribes. It's fairly predictable radio and not the least entertaining at that. Savage wasn't specific about a time when he'd inherit Hannity's time slot but I've heard sooner rather than later. Don't be surprised if a move were made by the fall.
I asked a longtime SF broadcast exec about Savage's prediction: "Look, Savage wouldn't hurt; Hannity is a one-trick pony. I don't know what Cumulus is waiting for, frankly."

ReplyDeleteI'll say that I have enjoyed Hannity.
We're jumping the gun on predicting he is losing his radio and television shows. He'll still be somewhere. Just wait and watch.
That being said, hopefully Savage's message will get through to the liberals in the Bay Area. Most likely not...it's a mental disorder and I'm not sure even Dr. Savage can cure them.
As usually conservatives (some) are so narrow minded or ignorant that they cannot conceive of anybody not being conservative, without thinking they just haven't listened to the other side. I have listen to Hannity, but not for a long time, as said on this blog he is a one trick pony, also he is not the brightest bulb, I use to listened to Savage, but got tired of his rants and yelling, I use to listen to Tom Sullivan on 910 when he was on and enjoyed him, even though I often didn't agree with him, but he made sense, was social liberation and treated all callers with respect. Some of us are liberals, not because we haven't listened to a right wing host, but because we have listened and studied all the issues, and have decided what we believe. The problem is not liberal or conservative hosts, they problem is too many people can't think for themselves and need a radio host to tell and validate their belief. I have respect for any person conservative, liberal or in the middle who have studied the issues and can make an intelligent case for their beliefs. Listening to Hannity I hear as many sheep, or in Savage's words sheeple as you claim liberals are.
DeleteI too miss Tom Sullivan. I could sit next to him on a plane from Oakland Ca. to Wakiki, Hawaii and allow myself to actually listen vs shut him out. Frosty always sounds as though he's choking, or pushing his voice harder than it's meant to sound. Frosty has a voice for a 12 string, acoustic ballad. He's an experienced radio man, and his style is simply different than his predecessor.
DeleteI wish they would bring Barbara Simpson and Rabbi Lapin over to 910am for a show during the week, during the daytime. Two bright lights being kept under a bushel basket. I understand that jobs in radio and tv are very competitive, especially for those over certain age demos. No more shows about real estate or fixing old cars, teaching sassy youths to STFU and sing in harmony, no thank you.
Anon 9:30 AM, I am conservative, and not "narrow minded". I respect decent opinions, when someone has some logic behind them.
DeleteUnfortunately, as time has gone on, our State is deeper in debt ($500 Billion?), our nation is deeper in debt ($17 Trillion?), we have pensions, SS, Medicare & Medicaid unfunded... and many Liberals want to tack on more social programs, More Free Lunches. WHERE will the money come from?
I respected Midwestern born liberals, typically, who worked hard, saved, didn't abuse our social systems, rarely or never took welfare, and wanted an honest wage for an honest days work. And really, these liberals could be from anywhere.
The pension-spiking liberals, $200,000-per-year-for Affirmative-Action fire fighters Liberals, the ObamaCare liberals who haven't thought out the "where will the money come from?" questions... I treat them with respect, they simply don't have a lot of common sense or earnest plans for us all to have a decent future.
Rich don't print my anti Democratic rant if you don't want to. I reread the article and may have jumped the gun.
ReplyDeleteI enjoy Hannity. I enjoy Savage as well.
ReplyDeleteInteresting article.
ReplyDeleteI've really enjoyed the subjects Rich has written about the last few days. Keep up the good work!
So, instead of not listening to Sean Hannity, I'll not listen to Michael Savage. Good to know.
ReplyDeleteI love both of you and I also listen to both of you daily.
ReplyDeleteMichael Wiener predicting that the company he works for will move him to into Hannity's slot? And that's news? With Hannity's contract up and him being moved out of primetime, how is this a PREDICTION?
ReplyDeleteSounds pretty dumb, but typical for the King Tool.
If you bay area liberals would listen to Dr. Savage for a change instead of ranting your scripted Socialist babble you would start to understand how the real world works. It's a question of in America, how many payers we have to handle all of the takers. Because of the lope sided imbalance of way more takers than payers we are heading for bankruptcy as a country. Please wake up for a change, it could be our last chance.
ReplyDelete"The lope sided imbalance."
DeleteNeed I say more? Nope--you nailed it, Nonny!
As someone who has actually worked with Mr. Savage I can assure you that he has some underlying mental health issues, which makes him someone I would be unlikely to expect to teach me "the truth." Of course many artists where mentally ill and could produce interesting work or were entertaining.
DeletePlease, tell us more. There's someone at KGO who works with him now and apparently they don't get along too well. When I heard they were working together I thought to myself "this should be interesting." I think it would take a special person to work with him. I'm told the pay is terrible too. What were you paid? When did you deal with him? Was he ever Wiener on the radio?
DeleteCome to think of it his last name probably explains why he is the way he is. He probably was abused by kids growing up.
So Savage is cheap? Is that a sin? Mickey Luckoff was supposed to toss around knickels like manhole covers...
DeleteI've heard that Rush and Glenn Beck pay their people very well. BTW, how is Beck doint in Texas / with his ew ventures?
Has anyone been paying attention to the demise of the Rush Limbaugh show? Has anyone been taking note of the massive consumer boycott of his advertisers? They have been fleeing for the doors, 2600 of them so far. You see, consumers have had enough of hate speech and have been contacting advertisers to inquire whether they really intend to associate their good names with racism, misogyny and homophobia. Turns out that most advertisers would rather sell their goods than connect them to right-wing bigotry.
ReplyDeleteMichael Savage, should he take Rush's place on the Throne of Hatred, will suffer the same dearth of advertisers. Decent people shun Limbaugh and Savage. Advertisers do as well.
and the left has no bigotry?
DeleteDemise? Such a liberal fantasy. Rush ain't going anywhere. He crushes everyone else including Savage. Get a grip.
DeleteDemise? No way. When Rush first started on radio, (over 20 years ago) all of the major red rags were predicting his demise within a year. There are a lot of other advertisers that take up the slack for the ones that departed.
DeleteNo bigotry on the Left. I don't know if it's bigotry... but I looked up the VPs and Directors of one of Clinton's buddies, and a firm he was on the Board of Directors... Teneo or Teneo Capital... 11 of 12 of the top peole are White Msales... and the 12th was a white female who is the VP for HR!! hahah The top 90 or 95 were uber white, with maybe 3 or 4 "peope of color"... in New York of all places!!
DeleteDiversity my a@@!! This plave looks like the old KGO radio... white, white, white!
Well, every circus needs a clown.
ReplyDeleteYes and your "President" has his own.
DeleteYou should have said your "President" (in name only) IS his own clown!
DeleteNeither Rush, Romney, or Savage would be stupid enough to add $10 Trillion+ to the national Debt in 8 years... and have nothing positive to show for it! Talk about wak-a-do.
DeleteI called Hannity The Whiner. I prefer Savage, O'Reilly, or Drs. Krauthammer and Sowell.
Sean Hannity's problem is that he beats the same horse to death everyday. After awhile you start feeling like the horse. You can only take this stuff for so long. I would love for Mike Savage to take his place. With Savage you get the real facts without all of the bull shit.
ReplyDeleteSo true...same mumbo jumbo from Sean every day and I consider myself a right leaning independent. The format of left/right political spectrum guest speakers arguing/shouting their points vs. one another has grown old and is unwatchable/listenable.
DeleteEvery fifth word out of Hannity's mouth is "liberals." It does get old.
DeleteLets not get crazy and call what Savage says and does "real facts." That said, it doesn't mean Sean Hannity is good. Savage is about as "fact" based as OJ's lawyers, but nevertheless, it doesn't make him bad at radio.
ReplyDeleteHannity is only on the air because someone decided he was good enough, and could bill nationally. Rush came together with a moron named Phil Boyce, and they capitalized on a certain time in America where the conservative talk thing worked. But to suggest this guy is really talented is absurd. He's pretty weak, but it was GOOD ENOUGH, so they went with it.
There's no doubt Savage is better than him, but seriously, is that saying anything? That's actually a "fact."
Any examples of non facts? Or are you just a drone spewing talking points with incorporating insults? The second is rhetorical. Given you show you are a parrot I suggest you look up the definition of rhetorical.
DeleteThe only person basing anything but a fact is you. Since you are clearly lacking in originality you reach for something almost twenty years old would have done well being an OJ lawyer's shoeshiner.
NEXT TIME WRITE IN ALL CAPS.
DeleteSomeone call Cal and find out if anyone named Wiener has earned a "PhD in epidemiology." That'll be the first non-"fact."
DeleteKelly is a teleprompter reading talking head, won't last long.
ReplyDeleteI raise my glass to the diversity of opinions available on talk radio... Left, Right, or in the Middle, as long as the host is pro-Israel he's free to share his slant (or his hatred) about anything in America.
ReplyDeleteFree speech in America is a delusion.
Freedom of speech does not include the right to have one's own radio show and to require advertisers to pay you money for it. Sure, say what you want, but don't expect to get paid to do it on the radio.
Delete"Sure, say what you want"...
Deleteand surrender your political career (Pete McCloskey), your professional standing (Helen Thomas), your status as an elder statesman (Jimmy Carter), your acting career (Vanessa Redgrave), your career as a journalist (Joe Sobran), your tenure as an academic (Norm Finkelstein).
Free speech for citizens, alright... as long as the speech meets with the approval of the Israeli Lobby.
You have a point, which you undercut with bad examples. Joe Sobran was a Holocaust revisionist. Helen Thomas said the Jews should go back to Europe. Norman Finkelstein's most controversial work also dealt with the Holocaust. Jimmy Carter is still respected as an elder statesman.
DeleteThe line between criticizing Israel and Jews in general is often blurred. What do you mean by Israel Lobby? Are you referring to AIPAC? These days, its base is evangelical. Most American Jews don't support the Israeli right wing that AIPAC represents.
And I take it, KQED is too "boring" for you.
DeletePuhleeze! There is plenty of intelligent radio, TV, internet, and dare I say it? BOOKS! out there.
But keep listening to Crap Radio and tell us that "free speech is a delusion."
"Joe Sobran was a Holocaust revisionist." -- First of all, everyone who seriously investigates history and uncovers new information/questions/contradictions is a revisionist, so I suggest you ask yourself why you'd ever excuse the ruination of anyone for doing to the Holocaust what is routinely done to every other historical or religious event? Secondly, the only reason anyone ever branded Sobran as a revisionist -- which he wasn't, was to cover-up the outrageous abuse of influence used to stop him and his talented pen from educating conservatives about the dangerous activities of our duplicitous "ally" in the Middle East (you know, the state that spies on us, incites us to wage war, humbles our president before Congress, etc., etc., etc.).
DeleteAs for Helen Thomas, that you believe it fair to personally destroy a celebrated journalist because she, in her old age, let her emotions get the best of her and made a harmless statement? The connection between Europe and the vast majority of Israelis is real, as is the displacement of Palestinians from their ancestral homelands, thus, there was truth behind Ms. Thomas's emotional statement. And for that they ruined her, even going so far as to revoke an academic award given annually in her name.
Norman Finkelstein, the son of Holocaust survivors, wrote an outstanding book (The Holocaust Industry) detailing the economic and political outrages committed in the name of survivor compensation, restitution, and reparation. I guess, in your book, that's an unforgivable act.
Jimmy Carter is still an elder statesman? Do a bit of research (3 minutes on Google should be enough) to read how this indisputable humanitarian has morphed into a hateful anti-Semite.
AIPAC evangelical? Is that how they got Congress to publicly embarrass Obama? By the power of prayer? Get a clue.
Oh, and auntie L, you used the word "intelligent" in your comment... try using it in your thinking. I said nothing about listening to crap radio... maybe you heard that via the signals coming into your head.
I would Agree with 8:05 If you listen to Rush from 9 to noon you have listen to Hannity and Levin for the day. Also just FYI Rush is not on KSFO anymore.
ReplyDeleteAny show gets to be boring after awhile. If u listen to Hannity I would say it's BORING and predictable. I would welcome Savage .
ReplyDeleteI think much of Sean Hannity's appeal comes from women who find him to be the marrying type: a handsome, Irish boy from Long Island who's conservative, goes to church and knows how to fix/build things. You can just tell by the way women callers try to flirt with him.
ReplyDeleteA net worth of 35 million may have something to do with that, too! And with all of that handiness, it's too bad that he wasn't patriotic and courageous enough to actually SERVE in the military.
DeleteI will only listen to SAVAGE on the show.....He is the only one worth hearing. AND I buy products from his advertisers any chance I get.
ReplyDeleteIf Savage can stay off the ledge, he could move some people. To me, at least, he can be brilliant. His everyman stories... about his Mom, his Father, dead man's pants, his Mom's tiny kitchen... hark back to an Americana we may be losing.
ReplyDeleteI put him in the radio pantheon with Dr. Bill Wattenburg (KGO), Michal Jackson (KABC), Gene Burns (KGO, RIP), Dr. Thomas Sowell (Stanford), Dr. Walter Williams, and others.
Sean erred in backing amnesty for illegals and featuring flip-flopping Marco Rubio. There is NOTHING conservative about amnesty. I also don't like the "shoot-outs." I appreciate Sean's patriotism and aid for military families. I still tune in, just less frequently.
ReplyDeleteGood talk show hosts are not suppose to be conservative, liberal, or whatever, they can be of course, but a really good talk show host is one who thinks independently, who can make almost any subject interesting (think Gene Burns) and who can motivate people to call in, then engage callers in an interesting give and take (think Gene Burns again). If you get upset with a particular host because he takes a stand you disagree with you don't want a good talk show host, you just want someone who is always preaching to the choir, and THAT gets VERY, VERY boring really fast, at least for those of us who think independently and like to hear all sides. I don't care much if a host is left, right or middle, I care that he is interesting, intelligent, well informed and does not try to bull shit me, those hosts are getting more and more difficult to find these days. I'm not a conservative, but I don't want to see conservative radio go away, just wish that had someone more interesting than the predictable crop that is on here in the Bay Area. Read that Hannity is upset with Cumulus management, said they have ruined great stations like KGO, KSFO and others, he might have a point. As far as I can tell about Hannity and to a certain degree about Rush they have an on air personality (attack dog for republicans) and off air, they are much more adaptable, unlike Savage who seem to be just difficult and unpleasant most of the time (have heard this from several sources, included some who knew him personally). I believe he has the degree he claims, but I heard he paid someone to write this thesis for him, and then he gets on the air, saying he was booted out of the UC University system because of minorities, not because he is difficult and possible a fraud.
DeleteA possible fraud? Have you ever heard of Dr. Harry Edwards of UC Berkeley?
DeleteI had heard that Dr. Edwards, when he was seeking tenure, was "controversial". The Academic Senate wasn't sure his academic work was up to merit. I looked at his - one - book in the library, on sports, and it was short, with a Bibliography that was maybe one page?
I think I recall that he played the Race Card, and was ultimately granted tenure.
Hannity is a good guy, but he once said: "My favorite Republicans are Schwarzeneggar, Giuliani, and McCain."
ReplyDeleteThat's enough to convict.
On the one hand, Savage has THE BEST TIME SLOT. As he himself touts, he is THE LAST WORD for the day, after Rush, Hannity and Levin.
ReplyDeleteAnd with his folksy schtick he is a VERY WELCOME "balance", if you will to the Opposing Party Ideologues that precede him.
With this, giving up this Sweet Time Slot, to go to the traditionally coveted "afternoon drive time" slot, Savage would have to change that Balance Schtick he has perfected, to another one...and with that, possibly LOSE HIS WELL CRAFTED MOJO, that he has built up with a lot of sweat, tears and Talent !
It will mean building a TOTALLY NEW AUDIENCE, and losing some of his long time listeners.
Since TIME is not supposed to be a factor these days with Podcasts, and archiving...it really depends upon what Savages wants to Lose, not so much how much he will, possibly...POSSIBLY...gain with this move.
I say, "Be Careful For What You Wish For" Michael Savage, and Good Luck...BUT at least make it YOUR DECISION, NOT YOUR CUMULUS BOSSES, OK ?
Megan who? Shaun Hannity is beating the Conservative drum and why not, with people in government like we have now, somebody has to. One of the few faults which I find are some of his guests he puts on. He puts on way too many RINOs, and also his unceasing support for Rubio. Otherwise he has a good show, and we need him, of course the commie liberals will jump on the bandwagon of disliking him in order to get him off the air. We need more people like Shaun on the air not less, let's get behind Shaun.
ReplyDeleteso you think the radio dial is for the conservative ideology, and not entertainment? that's exactly why "Shaun" Hannity is terrible.
DeleteThe reason for this is simple. Hannity and Limbaugh used to be distributed by an independent talk network. Then Clear Channel purchased the company (Premier Networks.) Clear Channel and Cumulus are primarily station ownership groups and are in a fierce competition across the country to control as much of the radio ad market as possible. When Limbaugh and Hannity came under the Clear Channel umbrella Cumulus effectively was paying its rival to carry their shows. Syndication deals work like this. A given hour of radio has so many commercial time slots called avails. The network gets a certain number of those and the rest are left for the local station to sell. So imagine that Krogers supermarket (Clear Channel) demanded that Safeway (Cumulus) give up some of its floor space to sell Kroger merchandise. Then on top of that both the Limbaugh and Hannity contracts required that the stations pay an additional fee to cary the shows. So again to our Krogers/Safeway analogy, Krogers insists that Safeway not only give up floor space, but also a share of its total profits. Apparently Cumulus thought it could make enough off of Limbaugh to justify that kind of deal, but didn't think it could off of Hannity.
ReplyDeleteCan someone explain to me how this is a "prediction?" what's next? John Dickey is going to predict how to destroy bay area radio? Not exactly soothsaying now is it?
ReplyDeleteIt'll be funny if this happens and Wiener can't beat Lowenstein in the bay area.
ReplyDeleteCan someone actually comment about the Savage program? I will admit he's naturally more entertaining than the other puppets, but have you really listened to the show lately? The guy has like 1 good show every 5, and maybe 5-7 great segments every 40-50. It's hardly riveting radio.
ReplyDeleteI tune in to KSFO at around 6:45-7:15 on my drive home, catching around 40 minutes of the program. It sounds to me like the guy mails it in for the last 30 minutes. Then maybe I'll catch something interesting in the pre-recorded hour, which sounds so obviously pre-recorded. Sometimes you'll hear him refer to the next hour in the final hour. Duh?
Sean Hannity was never that good. It's about time they got rid of him. Of course, it's not an original thought since FOX is moving him as well. Yet it's no secret his contract with Cumulus is up. I'm just surprised they didn't call Huckabee or Geraldo.
The only prediction I'll make is this: If Cumulus is making this move it won't work out for anyone, including Savage, since everything they seem to touch turns to shit.
Savage can make me laugh more in one hour, than Air America did in it's entire history.
ReplyDeleteYes, he does seem to mail it in during the latter part of his show, maybe that comes with age. Maybe some ammino acids, workout regime, and personal trainer for him & Teddy would help. Maybe his thoughts about what world his grandchildren and great grand children will help to inspire him?! Or maybe some eeg noodles and Thai Chi in North Beach.
When Obama back doors the Constitution to give Congress and their staffers a waiver to ObamaCare, we should revolt. And we need Savage to join some of our other leaders in leading this charge.
And I'm no rich dud,e but since when is it a good idea to let Uncle Sam take 62% of one's hard-earned income, so others can live on the dole?
Not sure about your amazing tax question. Lets ask the veterans of WWII and Korea, when there was a growing middle class. But since you're not a "rich dud", don't worry about it. I'm in the top 1%, proud of it, and not complaining. I've learned quite a bit about this Savage character the last year, and let me assure you, he's either not the man he claims to be on-air, or off it, because from what I'm told, the two don't jive. - Roy
Deletelol with the Faux talking points.
DeleteRomney paid 14.1% in 2011.
Do like him, problem solved.
Anon 10:39 AM... and President Bill Clinton wrote off his dirty underwear donated to charity! What a power-hungry cad. Well, Hillary & Chelsea are pushing Pops to raise a $250 Million endowment for the "Clinton Global Initiative", as they know if Pop kicks, they're stock is worth much less than his.
DeleteThey are all good each in his own way. Fox may find that the change
ReplyDeletewas not a good idea. Each one of them is what the country needs now
that the media of the past tells lies and is bent on taking down the country.
Michael Savage is a self-involved, dysfunctional egotistical loudmouth, who seems to think he has a good idea of what's going on in this country. Anyone who actually thinks this idiot believes half of the tripe that he spews out there, is even more of a nutcase! Sadly, the fact that people like Michael Savage are on the radio these days, and that other people actually listen and give credence to what this carnival barker and alarmist is saying, shows what a sick society we've become. Too many Americans seem trivialize or gloss over important issues, and spend way to much time getting into gossip and innuendo, which is Mr Savage's stock and trade. The fact that Rich continues to give this guy kudos and attention shows you that even Rich needs to 'wake up and smell the coffee!'
ReplyDeleteSavage is losing it, he's becoming senile!
DeleteI'm hoping God will remove him and save America from such evil negative rants.
Savage could never do PrimeTime...not the way he repeats his programs, it would be far too much for him to keep such a daily schedule. The man's hanging-by-a-thread as it is. He'll be gone soon and the sooner the better!
Amen brother. Why would Cumulus give this Whiner bum a prime time slot when half the time he's either on vacation or doing the third hour of his show taped. If I listen to him to get a kick out of his pseudo intellect I tune out after the second hour. He has no respect for his audience. The third hour is shit. It's like forcing a patron of the North Beach restaurant to drink a corked bottle of Brunello knowing full well the bottle sat next to the heater for the last ten years.
DeleteHe's still better than any talker the Libs can find. Why can't the Libs find one decent talk show host? A major problem is they have no sense of humor.
DeleteI know, bring back Bernie Ward, the Screamer, when he gets out of jail... ha!
Hey, 11:58...
DeleteYou're so wrong. Ever listen to Randy Rhodes? That girl could go against any of the big boys and come out ahead every time!
Rhodes constantly amazes me with her knowledge, intelligence and sharp repartee! You should check her out: Weekdays 12-3pm 960 AM.
There are other liberals who can hold their own, in terms of intelligence, knowledge, sense of humor etc.
DeleteHere is a few names Bill Press, Stacy Taylor, David Lazarus, unfortunately Gil is no longer in the running, he is liberal, but his show is boooring, booring, too bad. However I get the feeling from the conservative posts on this blog, they are really not interested in a good host with a different point of view, they are only interested in having their own beliefs and views mirrored, and they accuse liberals of being close minded?
Weiner is predicting something! We all know how right the crazy old man is. Remember these?
ReplyDeletehttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yS3eVodLTUk
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3zgU8IjEDdk
So in 1 year from now when Weiner is still in the same time slot i am sure that this prediction will have never happened in his mind.
Cumulus may move Savage to the Hannity time slot (Noon to 3PM Pacific) but Hannity will likely continue in that same time slot with Premiere (Clear Channel). Savage billed this as his rise in the ranks and Hannity's decline. It is not likely true and any move would occur as a result of competition between the two syndicators. If KABC and WABC drop Hannity, he'll end up on KFI and WOR respectively, power house stations in their own right. Savage should cool it. He's entertaining at times but his schtick gets old just as quick as anyone else.
ReplyDeleteEnjoy Hannity very much.
ReplyDeleteSavage, no thanks too mean spirited.
But more than anything else, enjoy to hear liberals get all bent out of shape with their righteous indignation.
If there is anyone who deserves Sean Hannity's KSFO timeslot it is Barbara Simpson! She is intelligent, well-read, well-informed and has worked in Bay Area media for over 35 years. If she were on during the day, I would definitely listen!
ReplyDeleteI've had the pleasure of working with Barbara and while I disagree with her politics her beliefs and thoughts are genuine and come from a corp set of principals that she adheres to and can logically defend. She most certainly deserves a Monday through Friday time slot.
DeleteRich - why is it that you must have a post touting how incredible Savage is at least once a month?
ReplyDeleteI have to agree, I have listened to Savage when he was entertaining, usually when he tells stories, but his negatives (yelling, ranting, blaming everything on liberals, I thought conservatives didn't believe in blaming others) outweighs his positives. I know Rich is a big fan of John Rothmann, and the late Gene Burns, and I don't see how you can like all three, when their styles are so different. Can you imagine John or Gene (when he was alive) ranting and raving like Savage? No, me neither. Rothmann and Gene is/was class, Savage is not.
DeleteHe's NUMBER ONE IN DIGITAL! "I'M THE NUMBER ONE HOST ONLINE. DO YOU KNOW WHO LISTENS ONLINE? THE YOUNGER PEOPLE! I'M NUMBER ONE, RUSH IS NUMBER TWO, THEN THERE'S SOME OTHER PEOPLE NO ONE LISTENS TO!" Well, except all the people that make those people numbers 3-10.
ReplyDeleteMaybe this guy doesn't know how to use a computer, but I'm in my 50s and know how to click a link.
For a man hell bent on talking about his education over and over, apparently he never studied math/logic. The reason he's number 1 "online" is because Limbaugh's listeners don't need to find him online. He's on the actual radio. Yet the other side of the coin is Savage is claiming to be great relative to people he thinks are boring. Hmmm...Gets back to the point that the radio companies themselves have hired boring hosts because there's no one creative working on the programming side.
None of these people are that great. It's just all there is.
Wallbanger re-ups! I bet we get a Savage Memorex tape today. talkers.com
