Wasn't Radnich making more than 525K 15 years ago?

    1. How much does Pam Cooke make at KTVU? What about Sal "your buddy" Castinada?

  2. Vic Lee only $150,00? That is disgusting. One of the very best reporters out there.

    1. Based on tenure alone, Lee should make more than that.

  4. Fatnich is WAAAY overpaid. He should make as much as barkers on Broadway. I wish I could make that kind of money by dialing it in every day like he does.

  5. Expected to see Don Bleu and John Miller on this list. And what was Ronn Owens making a year or two ago?

  6. Unless Cumulus has the poorest bargaining skills this side of the earliest Native Americans, I highly doubt they're paying Weiner that kind of money. He had no options, and no place left to go. Not exactly a good tactic. But maybe they're paying him for all of those "internet listeners" he is so recently fond of touting. Have you heard this clown's show lately? All he is doing is saying he's "number 1" and that he's "number 1 in internet listeners." He's also weighing in on how talk radio isn't an old medium, as critics suggest, and the proof is all of these "younger internet listeners."

This guy calls himself a scientist?

The reason he has more internet listeners than say Rush Limbaugh is because Rush's listeners don't have to listen to him on the internet! He's on the radio, EVERYWHERE, unlike Savage. So the fans who can't tune in, like in Los Angeles, Atlanta, Chicago, you know, the smaller markets, maybe they're tuning into Savage online.

Does this guy really think that since maybe someone his age doesn't know how to use the internet that others don't as well? Or that listeners 10 years younger than he is (how old is he, 75?), also don't know how? And even if those people are that still doesn't mean young people are the ones listening online.

No one can deny his success, but more and more he sounds like a foolish old man speaking to foolish old men.

    1. $8 mil?? WTH?? all Savage does is toot his horn and talk about his ratings; he's an a$$hole to his good-intentioned callers; he didn't know the facts about the Zimmerman case; and his bashing of other conservative radio hosts?! That is wrong. Here's hoping KSFO can have a major shakeup. It's gone so downhill...

    2. Myself, I've written Savage off as being insane. All sizzle and very little steak. Pushes emotional buttons for ratings, ala Hulk Hogan. Big deal.

BTW, I read somewhere that Savage's son is CEO of RockStar Energy Drinks, In other words, Savage's son sells speed. This doesn't surprise me. He's just like his dad. They both shamelessly sell all sizzle and no steak.

  21. Oh Rich, you'll love this... TMZ tonight....Harvey Levin, the boss guy who heads up the reporters...he was talking about Lindsay Lohan leaving rehab and said something to the effect she has to make progress like a plane taking flight, first you back up, then you taxi, then you fly--and then he said, "Ho Li Fuk."

  26. I'll probably never be wealthy in this life. If I was a rich man, I'd most likely invest in rental property, municipal bonds with margin accounts for gold. What are the most common ways the News Elite invests their money? Is it mostly hush-hush and mysterious?

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. You invest in what's most tax-free or tax-deferred. Anyone rich will tell you it's not what you make, it's what you keep. There are many mutuals and other funds that are tax-free, but of course you have to have a minimum, and it's so high only the very rich can afford it. The little guys get taxed on their investments. The big people do not, by fiat of Congress. And in a remarkable coincidence, those same big people contribute heavily to congressional campaigns. Obviously no connection there, because that'd be selling our country to the highest bidder, but I just thought I'd point it out.

  30. Rich,
    Where's the inane/idiotic Brian Sussman?
    "Worst damn morning radio program...period"!

    ReplyDelete
  31. Roberta Gonzales is a zero -- shameful self promoter. Greg Papa is an
overpaid, pompous ass. The only one lower on my list of Bay Area sportscasters is Bob Fitzgerald -- the King of Condescension. He actually corrected an underling ON THE AIR this week on his pronunciation of Igoudala. Good job Bob. Way to inspire loyalty amongst your co-workers. Fitz is also a job thief, although I didn't
lose too much sleep over the fact that Papa was the one who was robbed. Woefully underpaid are television field reporters. Tara Moriarty and Amy Hollyfield are two of the best and deserve a raise!

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. Yes, I don't get why people like Gonzales either. Well, okay, I do: in this age of Twitter, Facebook and other obnoxious self-promotion and you-can-do-it aggrandizement, she fits right in. She reflects the zeitgeist.

  32. Damon Bruce is making about 55 k from KNBR 1050. He always likes to tell everyone he's the best sports talk show host on the radio. He hasn't been around here long enough to make that boast and the amount of money he's making kind of gives you an idea of how much Cumululs values this loudmouth, know it all.

    ReplyDelete
  33. rich what the heck is going on with you in the radman he is just giving you all kinds of love from 9 to noon what did you do or what did he say to you?

    ReplyDelete
  34. I love Pam Cook. Underrated. Whatever she's making I'm sure it's not enough. Something steady and reassuring about her and she seems to enjoy what she does.

    ReplyDelete
  35. Can't be too accurate. Sarah from Sarah and Vinnie is making WAY over 150, and she isn't even on the list. Plus a lot of other missing high rollers.

    ReplyDelete
  36. Bill Martin is making way more than $150,000. I would guess it's close to double that #. I'm betting Raj makes a little more as well. He's had opportunities to leave and likes the Bay Area.
How hard did Dennis O'Donnell negotiate for the extra $30?
Thanks for the list, Rich. Looking forward to the next one ...

    ReplyDelete
  37. Considering the market, salaries have stagnated. These are numbers that wouldn't be out of place in the 90s. I guess it's an industry thing.
I'm sure there are many on the list that are insulted by these numbers, but given the options - this or nothing (or worse, less and in a cruddier market) they take it.
There aren't many in any profession that have climbed the ladder this high and making only mid-six figures. Lawyers make more, Doctors make more. Figure most of the tech people make more - even a few public employees make more.
Not saying the money isn't good - but it isn't what it was, or would be now if they kept pace with inflation. Not throwing a pity party, but it is worth noting.

  38. Ibanez? Really? Vic Lee needs a big pay boost. And at least Tolbert makes us all laugh.

  39. @ 9:57 PM

    "Four women. 16 men."

You nailed it! Especially at KTVU. Not only is it a terribly racist station (i.e. Wi Tu Lo), it is incredibly sexist. The pay disparity between genders is jaw-dropping. The men make WAY more than their female co-anchors. I "accidentally" got to see the payroll account when I worked there. The women there should file a class action suit. Their union KNOWS about this, but stands silent! It's all true!

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. Maybe it's not classic sexism. Could the gender disparity be because these particular men have more compelling personalities than these particular women? That does happen sometimes.

      Delete
    2. Union activism is dead in the Bay Area.
The bay area TV union is weak and knows it.
Just ask the management at KQED the proper why to negotiate with the union.

  42. God, I wonder if Ralph Barbieri is sitting in his recliner with a laptop and a bottle whiskey reading this list?

  44. If Michael Savage is really pulling down $8 million annually for his syndicated talk/rant show, you'd think he could afford psychiatric couseling ... which he desperately needs.

    ReplyDelete
  45. I think Frank Somerville is great! He is calm, reassuring, sensitive and culturally competent, he should be making 7 figures. He's a bay area treasure!
--Tori Campbell, on the other hand seems guarded, robotic and obviously out of sync with the African American man she works with in the morning. She seems to have real disdain for him.

    ReplyDelete
  46. That's really her personality, FWIW

    ReplyDelete
  47. Have to disagree--Tori Campbell is a really solid news anchor--one of the few who can pull off the serious stuff and the "human interest" stories equally well. Really enjoy watching her and the whole Mornings on 2 crew.
