Media Garbage both in the 415 and Beyond: It's All Your Fault

The garbage they feed you is your fault.

They take you for granted. They force-feed you the crap knowing all too well that there's a big vast net of people who will consume and distribute their mush. Force-fed consumption. So long as we dish it out they will eat it all up and act like lambs.

Dummies.

You are lazy. You can bitch about this and that but the fact of the matter is when they know they have a lame-brain audience that possesses little resistance and don't work to go after them, they will pounce on it and continue to offer you the scraps from the main meal. Dummy.

The garbage has no slant--it comes from all over the political spectrum, left, right, middle, hell who cares. It's about time you demanded better, more. But they already know you're not made for the long run hence the garbage they throw out, you'll consume and although many of you will bitch, you bitch with empty bites.

Thus you reap what you sow.

I'll talk more about this on the radio show later Tuesday, (today.)

  1. Hows this?---the local sports writers were boycotting KNBR appearances because some were being paid, others not. That lasted almost two years before Mark Purdy and Monte Poole after him went scab to be on KNBR.
Today Gary Radnich played dumber then usual and asked Monte why local writers wouldn't come on his show all that time? He had no idea!..Monte said some paid, etc, etc. Radnich said to that "I would rather be unpaid and heard then paid and heard"..What a crock of chit!
Radnich just trying to rub it in he as a tool of the big company, own the local media along with the Giants.
Radnich work for free?..He makes bankers seem like veggie environmentalists..
That's the kind of media garbage we have in the bay area.

  2. That is why I listen to alternative news outlets such as Democracy Now! to balance out the garbage from three main stream and they I assume the truth is somewhere in between. Rich, I'll tune in to your show after the Barcelona vs Bayern Munich match. Go Bayern go!

  3. Funny, nice Lewis Black impression Rich.

The 24 hr news channels have no excuse to get it wrong, but have no reason to cover anything else. Some people want to watch the game, while others are content to just read the box scores after the dust settles.

It isn't a reasonable expectation for the other networks to provide coverage better than a news only outlet. Let's say they take the high road and abbreviate the coverage because there's nothing new/confirmed to report, well, the advertisers will fuss and fume. "what do you mean you're cutting away to show judge judy or leave it to beaver, we have a captive audience of mouth breathers!"

Local news? they're just repeating whatever happens to come across the news wire.

The networks cave in to the all mighty buck, just like your favorite politician.

  4. So, is the "Rich Lieberman Show" part of the problem of streaming junk fed to a lazy, lame-brain audience, or is it a brilliant display of antiseptic light exposing us to the unvarnished truth?

    What say you?

  5. And then, there is the satire which some take for news. I have to admit--this one got me! (But I still think Palin COULD have uttered these words!) It's pretty funny, nonetheless.

  7. "Lieberman Live" isn't force-fed consumption. It's just Rich with another endless monologue. I can turn it off. Thank God!

    1. How can Rich afford to tell his little teeny audience to, essentially, eff off? He's looking for all the listeners he can get. That sounds crappy, Rich. The name calling, too.

  8. The solution to this forced feed garbage?
Just don't buy the newspaper. The world wide web is the best thing since the printing press. We will decide the stories we read. Not some birdbrain editor with an agenda.
Those days are over. And the newspapers know it.
We the consumers will pick and choose those stories that suite us.

Yep, that is working so well..... People today are so much better-informed and not ignorant, spouting stupid conspiracy theories they get from unsourced blogs that look like news sites.

    2. 4:17 Listen to THE RICH LIEBERMAN SHOW on KOMY AM 1340 and you will get incisive, hard-hitting analysis and intelligent commentary on the state of the media and current events from talk radio's most promising up-and-coming star. Listen from 1-4 or by podcast and make it so!

  9. I don't see any difference between the media garbage "they" [the vaguely identified 415 media and beyond] are feeding us and the small helpings that Rich serves up.

In all fairness to Rich, I would say that he provides hand-crafted, boutique garbage. The other guys garbage is mass-produced.

    2. Trent is right. Rich wasted no time in exploiting the Boston marathon bombing, milking it for all it's worth, speculating endlessly about it. But he's happy that Claudine Wong smiles. Who cares? She's a good reporter, and that's what matters.

  11. Rich's radio program is all about lowered expectations realized. But whatever you call it, don't call it "SHTICK" and set him off. Cuz what he does ain't shtick. How do I know? Cuz da man, the Lieberman, said so. You don't like it? Then sayonara!

SECOND STATION NOW SIMULCASTING "LIEBERMAN LIVE," THE "RICH LIEBERMAN PROGRAM" WITH A 50,000-WATT SIGNAL THAT BLANKETS THE SAN JOAQUIN VALLEY FROM FRESNO TO CHICO AND WEST TO SAN FRANCISCO AND THE BAY AREA.

RICH: Please tell us more about this surprising and most welcome development.

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. It's 5000 watts and it's KMPH, but they have a great signal and I'm delighted to welcome them on board.

    2. Kudos to the Great One! Obviously, the dual signals emanating from Santa Cruz and Modesto carrying the "Rich Lieberman Show" vastly increase your potential audience reach. In fact, I'll wager it has at least doubled; further, that north of 1 million people are within earshot.

With KOMY already covering Santa Cruz-Salinas-Monterey, the addition of KMPH's signal from Modesto effectively extends coverage to include the San Joaquin Valley from Stockton to Fresno/Clovis.

Don't be surprised if Rich's program is picked up soon by stations in the bay area and Sacramento. His show has gained considerable traction and well deserved critical acclaim during the past 3 1/2 months.

It's not a question of IF but WHEN. By the end of the year, I expect Rich to be carried by the two stations that carry Armstrong & Getty: KKSF 910 AM (Oakland-SF-San Jose) and KSTE 650 AM (Sacramento-Stockton).

      You ain't seen nothing yet!

    3. This is great news! Congratulations, Rich! "Lieberman Live" is going places.

    5. Movin' on up! Yay, Rich... yay! Way to go, big guy!

    6. Talk Guy: You really think for a moment that Rich Lieberman could be tapped to replace Gil Gross on KKSF? Get serious man! Not gonna happen. No way. Gil is the cornerstone of KKSF's local programming, and he's got a large following, including many former KGO listeners. Maybe they'd put Rich on sister station KNEW 960. That's a big maybe.

Who cares anyway? Rich can be heard all over the West Coast and around the world via Web live streaming and podcasts thanks to the Zwerling family and KOMY.

    7. @6:06 ”Gil is the cornerstone of KKSF's local programming, and he's got a large following, including many former KGO listeners.”
Are you kidding? Every other day I see messages on Gross' Facebook timeline from so called fans ego don't even know he is on 910am. Cringe worthy stuff after all this time...

    8. KMPH has five times the signal transmitting power of KOMY. Not too shabby!

    9. Rich Lieberman replace Gil Gross?
      Meh... not so much.

Rich Lieberman taking over the 9-12 slot at KGO 810 from Ronn Owens?
A very real possibility; highly probable.

    10. No way any station in the bay area will carry the Rich Lieberman Show. As a media critic, he'd be a perpetual thorn in their side. That's fine with me. I'd rather he stay with the Zwerlings who are rebels with a cause.

  16. Great topic Rich. As you can see from the many reactions you received, people do have passionate feelings about the media. You're right on in your observations; Americans have only themselves to blame, not only for spending time consuming much of the drek that today's media produces, but also for many of the problems we have with our current system of government.

For Democracy to work, and for a free press to function, people must get involved in their communities. The business world and the special interests could care less about the needs of the public, because they're only interested in making profits for their shareholders and bonuses for their CEOs. It's a sad fact, but true!
