49ers to have Spanish Radio Broadcasts; Team signs deal with KTRB/ESPN Deportes

The 49ers radio broadcasts will be heard in Spanish, beginning this season and well into the future.

A Niners' staffer told me that the team's games will be broadcast over ESPN Deportes, (KTRB, 860 AM)

"It's a multi-year deal that will take us well into the New Stadium. This gives us substantial coverage to reach all our fans throughout the Bay Area and the Central Valley with their great signal and promotional strength."

  1. Kind of an odd question, but why can the 49ers move to Santa Clara and not impinge on the Raiders "turf" but the A's can't move to San Jose without doing the same to the Giants?
Did the Raiders sign off on it? Did they give up "rights" when they left town in 1980?

  2. Here is an even better suggestion.
The 49ers ought to just seize control of KTRB and launch their own radio station.
Where the 49ers become the focus of the station.
Unlike a certain other station where the entire staff is in a
trance-like state constantly chanting Go Giants Go!, Go Giants Go!.
And where we don't have to listen to some middle aged morning host discussing Hollywood gossip.
    This area deserves better.

    1. Middle age morning host?

He's beyond the desired 25-54 demographic.

      His stories are older still.

  3. 2:00 PM -- I think only baseball operates with the fokakta 'territorial rights' for each team.

  5. It's official. Erwin Higueros who has been doing the Giants game on radio will also do the Niners on radio. He just e mailed me to confirm.
