49ers' success may be future trump card on radio; Tricks and treats on your Media Monday

**Everything is rosy now; the 49ers and KNBR have a solid and professional relationship, (a new two-year extension was announced a few months back), but as the team's fortunes rise and the Harbaugh express brings a new winning swagger to the Bay Area, the 49ers, the unofficial king of the local social/sports arena, clearly feel second banana to the Giants on Knibber.

And to much degree, they are. When the Giants play late in the season, the 49ers' broadcasts are aired on Knibber's little sister of the poor, 1050 AM, (they're also on FM-107.7 The Bone). The 49ers' broadcast hierarchy is not thrilled with that process, but they understand the deal, particularly when the Giants won their first World Series in SF last year, and are also the core client for the folks at 55 Hawthorne.

Yet even with all the Giants' cachet in the Bay Area, it's the 49ers that inspire the biggest water-cooler content. It's the 49ers that create the biggest buzz: (the NFL is king)-- even a lame exhibition game this year, for example, outdrew a Giants/Dodgers game in the ratings dept. That's nothing new.

This much is certain: as the 49ers wonder season grows and headed to the post-season, don't be surprised down the road that they look to broaden and enhance their broadcasting position, particularly on radio. And if not from KNBR, maybe other players. Stay tuned.

  9. Bet the Gross duplication was meant for Raddy.

Very disappointed at State Farm's dumber ads. Agree there.

From the 'It's No Secret' Treat Dept.: When KPIX used to cover Bay-to-Breakers, Gonzales once dressed as Carmen Miranda, and she had the dance down pat. Let's just say a few eyeballs bulged. (It was in 2001: Hahn's Sharks were long gone after the first round that year: BTB was Gonzales' obvious stress-breaker - fun, too)

  10. Tricks-half my posts using IE8 goes to "cant find the web page"..some great stuff lost. Mozilla only works fine here. Trick: Raddy killing his own show with love slobbers over Krueger. He's a great guy says Raddy because he doesn't beat his wife or kids, and then according to Radnich,Kreuger only gambles and wins. Every week,Larry wins. Why is he working?..oh,that's because his good heart says Gary..until he ticks Gary off then he's a cold man. Half of my 15 minutes listening today was how great Larry is..Raddy,going crazy near his end. Sad.
TREATS: Flirty newsladys. Christina Loren,Laura Garcia at ch11. Darya,Jacky and Justine's plunging neckline race at KRON-Salute ladys!..Heather Holmes,Julie Haener,Ann Notorangelo with "worship me goddesses attitude"...repressed hotties like Tory on ch2 or Lisa Argent on 7..soccer moms who you KNOW are bad girls at that certain time...
Sex sells you prudes-get used to it. And more posts about it..

  15. What other sports radio outlets would be available to the 49ers? 95.7 The Game is in the same situation as KNBR with conflicts during the end of baseball season. The A's are locked in on 95.7 through September and possibly October. Where would you put football? K-FOX? KOIT?!

  16. Ann Killion really drives the sports boys mad doesn't she? they can hardly wait to tell tales of her cussin and swearin. She's another coquettish tease when she's on Comcast...but waits to give Harbaugh the "what a man" treatment. Poor Tim,can't get Ann to look at him like that...well,if Tim even has interest in THAT.

    ReplyDelete
  17. Halloween Trick (not the other kind): Heather Holmes. Doesn't anyone else think she looks like Beaker from the Muppets with a bunch of long blond hair stuck on her?

    She's a crappy anchor, too.

    ReplyDelete
  18. don't forget the 49ers are also on the Boner, 107.7 FM

  19. Trick. Any time that knucklehead at 9-noon tries to sway the topic to Hollywood gossip.

Treat any time Kate Scott reminds that guy to stay on the subject of sports.

  24. Trick=Susan Slusser who I know must be preparing a "Blame the leaky toilets of the Coloseum" for losing Josh Willingham. Susan always sides with ownership.."See's their point" She doesnt seem to want to point out that the A's wont even sign decent to good-not great players- anymore. Or keep the ones they have despite the fourth richest ownership and the Fisher familys billions. And why not repeat that a few times a year?
She will report if a pitcher doesn't like the manager...
