Another coup for KNBR's 1050 clean-up hitter, Damon Bruce.
Bruce scored a nifty, informative 20-minute phono with NBC Sports/HBO commentator, Andrea Kramer on Thursday.
The topics ranged from the increasing number of NFL player concussions, the 49ers, of course, and a bit on her uber-wonderful stare-down of Seattle Seahawks coach, Pete Carroll on "Real Sports."
In the meantime, on sister station 680 AM, Rudy and the angry LSU man were talking about college football amid the endless giggling.
Again? You betcha.

Speaking of coup's and D.Bruce(I like that moniker,it has a nice ring to it) I heard a funny kinda guy, different voice...but I caught no more than the last 10-15 seconds. It was BANGS Gary Peterson. I enjoy his columns of voice of reason. I wonder why he has been ignored by the other talkers and Comcast?.
ReplyDeleteSpeaking of talking-Despite my suspicions that Ratto has sold out...as a KNBR host -he's a better Radnich than Radnich.Today might have been Rays best show-funny,yet appealed to non KNBR demographics tastes-those who have taste and a brain. He was as good with Bruno as Radnich. He was polite with callers..not a hang up on one one and he then got respectful callers who knew he would listen. He was funny. Made me laugh.
I'm not sure why,but he's looser and better on KNBR than when he hosts Comcast and is constantly looking at his notes. Maybe just more Comcast practice.
But,I'm telling you, if Radnich ever steps away?Ratto would be my pick.
Too bad nobody listens to the great D Bruce.
ReplyDeleteThey were also talking college football on 860.
ReplyDeleteCheck out Rich's posting a few days ago which showed the ratings, on 1050 they are up, and they have been climbing since D bruce took over 12-4, I don't think its just a coincidence. BTW he did a bang up job with his interview with Toby Gerhardt today, it was great radio.
ReplyDeleteFrom the last comment, I wish more people listened to 860, but the ratings don't lie as they are not gaining the traction they should be. This is a shame because I like Roxy Bernstein and I think he's good on the radio. I go to 860 mostly when Damon goes to break, and think they are also pretty entertaining and deserve a listen.
Finally why do they (Rick Tittle, JJ and the Mouth) still call themselves part of Sports Byline Network when it seems pretty obvious they are only on 860 KTRB and in the San Francisco market. Does any other station carry them? It doesn't appear so but I could be wrong. I would rather hear the hosts saying "JJ and the Mouth on XTRA sports 860, your home for A's baseball" when goes to commercial or something else promoting the station. It would make them seem more part of the market in my eyes even though I guess they work for Ron Barr.
I'm sorry I missed that; Andrea Kramer is the most knowledgeable of the sideline reporters. I get the impression that she is working to get stories, not just just waiting around for her next shot.
ReplyDeletecheck out his knbr page or on itunes. I get all his shows that way without commercials
ReplyDeleteD.Bruce today just said out loud what I was thinking as I -stuck in the car-put F&B on to only hear giggling over car racing talk..THAT forced thing Rod insists on,Bruce all but called the F&B show stupid and of no interest to anybody in the bay area.
ReplyDeleteAnd that would be correct.
