Mike Bacsik is back in the news, but he probably wishes it was for something else.
Bacsik, the ex-Washington Nationals pitcher, is best known for serving up the record-breaking 756th home run pitch to Barry Bonds in 2007.
Bacsik, out of basbeall and working as a producer for a Dallas radio station, (KTCK-AM) was fired Tuesday for remarks he made on his Twitter account. The remarks were publicized by CNN. Initially, Bacsik was suspended, but was later let go after details of his remarks emerged publically.
Bacsik was admitedly "drunk" in a Dallas bar Sunday night when he watched the Mavericks lose Game 4 of their NBA playoff series to San Antonio. He began sending disparaging tweets that included "Congrats to all the dirty mexicans in San Antonio" and "If I get cancer and I'm going to die I wil blow NBA offices."
Dan Bennett, market manager for Cumulus Media Inc., parent company of KTCK, said "When we got all the facts and were able to look at the entire situation, we made our decision."
