ABC News, as part of a wholesale cutback in its news division, formally fired Laura Marquez.
Marquez, who joined the alphabet network in 2004 and worked locally for KGO-ABC7, reported on both California gubernatorial races and presidential elections. In 1999 she traveled to Washington, DC to cover President Clinton's impeachment hearings.
ABC also pink-slipped several of its LA bureau personnel, including Brian Rooney, (son of Andy). The moves come as ABC has notoriously begun hiring "digital journalists."
