Karel And the KGO Radio Blah, Blah, Blahs; The Day After

 Forget Karel.

Like the company, he's irrelevant --completely  insignificant when you consider the future. Besides, he's been down this road before. I'm surprised it took this long for him to get the axe and truth be told, he was about to be fired by a previous manager who disappeared, like they all do eventually.

It becomes only a matter of time that you get shown the door when you brag about filing for bankruptcy (which he did and tried to be cutesy about it)--weird.

You also don't endear yourself to the bosses when you utter f-bombs and smoke pot on the air --I'm not a prude but it's terrestrial radio. Karel obviously didn't get the memo. Too busy medicating probably.

Pat Thurston will now broadcast in Karel's Saturday slot from 7-10 PM --Sunday from 4-7 PM. Oh, KGO? Might be a good time to remove this--it's still up.

415 Media Breaking: Karel Fired From KGO Radio; UPDATE: Memo From Mahanay; UPDATE 2: Karel Statement

 And just like that --he gone!

Karel was just let go by KGO Radio and is no longer working at the SF talk station effective immediately.

Several theories as to why. But I just got the news from my Hawthorne source.

UPDATE: The memo that went out to staff earlier today (Wednesday) from Jim Mahanay, KGO manager--




"Good afternoon, We've made some changes in our weekend programming.   Effective this weekend John Batchelor will air from 10pm-5am Saturday. Kim Kommando will now air 7-10pm on Sunday. Karel is no longer part of our weekend programming.   We will be sending a new weekend schedule to everyone shortly."

Statement from Karel:


"KGO Radio has made the decision to sell their weekends to pay-for-play shows and fully syndicated shows in order to generate revenues. They are beginning this transition to paid programming by getting rid of me. Effective immediately, I will not be on KGO."

Karel Blurts out F-Bomb Live on KGO ; Update 2: Correction: Used "Butt" Word and Not F-Word

A reader informs me Karel dropped the f-bomb on his KGO Radio Show around 7: 21 PM Sunday night.







Here's the rant and Karel blurting out the "You don't give a rat's fuck!" UPDATE: Another reader says he heard the tape and says the word he heard was "butt"--after listening to the tape I hear the F-word and have received e-mails from people who heard what I heard including the original person. If Karel wants to clarify, he's welcome to do so.

Forget what he was talking about--it's a wonder he's still on the air.


After tonight this latest on-air bluster from the guy who got fired over remarks about Joe the Plumber might be his latest pink-slip to oblivion.

UPDATED clarification : After listening to the tape about 10 times, indeed it does now sound as if Mr. Karel used the word, "butt" and not "fuck." It's hard to make out at first but audible.

Karel Mangles KGO's David Weintraub On-Air And, Well, The Rest is History

  Just before midnight Saturday, KGO alleged talk-host Karel, and 12-2 AM, host, David Weintraub got into a mini-kerfuffle on the air. It wasn't a spectacular bout, but just good enough, (here's the link to listen--pay attention to the last five minutes).

Forget what caused the bitch-out and forget the subject matter--that's not important.

What is important is how much Karel is despised by the other few talk hosts and how his irresponsibility keeps him from getting the axe from timid management although this latest fracas might add to his eventual demise.

Said a broadcast staffer: "He's a moron. He's not smart and he's intensely disliked."

David Weintraub

Karel Goes Batty at KGO Radio Christmas Party; Tells Crowd '*uck You All'; Livid That He Can't Fill In For Ronn

 Maybe this is one of the reasons why Ronn Owens, (aka: mattress man) doesn't allow Karel, (aka: the "entertainer"), to be a fill-in when Ronny takes vacation time.

 

At KGO Radio's Christmas party at Boudins, I'm hearing Karel was deep in inner ego and quite enjoying himself. You can read into that what you make of it.

 

From my insider who was at the party, his highness made quite a toast, leaping on the platform to tell the throng...

 

...SO, here's to me and 'Fuck You...

 

To the whole group. (Well, now that's a way to get to primetime, ain't it?)

 

Furthermore, according to my insider, "he was loud and wanting attention when the 'GM was talking." Karel? You don't say!

 

And so the GM did the right thing for a change and told Sir Charles to "shut up and fuck you 'Karelia!" (bam!)

 

This doesn't surprise me. It's been long rumored that Karel's days are numbered at the albatross station. Even by KGO standards, Karel is an unmitigated disaster. Hence, his outburst and behavior at the holiday bash is not surprising at all.
