Barbara Simpson, the longtime Bay Area news anchor on KTVU, (she paired with retired Dennis Richmond) has a weekend show on ultra-right KSFO, (Sat.-Sun, 4-7 PM); Simpson every now and then sounds a bit, well, kooky.
The name of the show is a riot: "The 'Babe in the Bunker.' (Archie Bunker, perhaps).
She once gave a lot of credence to the birthers. That's kooky.
She's not your typical tea-baggeresque radio figure. Some frightening right-wing nuts are actually quite entertaining. Michael Savage is funny. Sure, he's a bit out of this world and every now and then says disturbing things, but Savage is at least entertaining, despite his bizarro politics and talking points.
Simpson seems overly strident and angry. Snippy and mean-spirited too. Especially to callers who think she's nuts and offer valid points. Of course, if they're that valid, Simpson tends to hit the cut button. (Surprise).
She doesn't particularly like Obama--OK, everyone is entitled to their opinion, and even the Prez's base isn't exactly in love with him right now, (did you see Paul Krugman's debt-ceiling beauty in the NY Times?)
Simpson goes over the top a lot. Not especially funny nor intriguing, merely boorish and mean. There's nothing original about that, it's just lazy.
