Gary Radnich: Radio Sports-Talk Host And Couch Therapist

I bet you didn't know that Gary, in addition to being a radio sports-talk show host, also moonlights on the side--he's also a couch therapist.

Over the years he's said some of the following...

I'm paraphrasing, but those of you that listen, have listened, or gave up and switched to listening to garden shows, here's a few beauties.

1. Gary believes that having kids is essential in life and provides you more responsibility. Without kids, Gary basically says you're not worthy.

2. It's not cool, in Gary's world, that you cry, especially if you're a celebrity. I would agree, almost, with the latter but there are people, men included, who are sincere and need an outlet to open up. Gary doesn't understand this element even though he's a therapist. Maybe he should stick to the Giant's pitching.

3. Gary says that those people who grew up in life without a mom or a dad are also not worthy. Gary is amazing, I didn't know he could delve deep into social fazes --Dr. Phil wasn't this good, my only problem is where did he get this amazing personal breakdown. From Pete Liebengood's cousins? Tom Nettles golf caddy? I'd like to know because this is all unique and worthy of an Ellen show.

OH, and yeah, that one from yesterday...a reader who recorded his show sent me a quote, direct from Radnich-- speaking about the Becky Hammon hire:

I don't think a woman could ever be a head coach in the NBA. ... To me coaching, at the very least half of it if not more, is just understanding your players. Understanding what motivates you ... I've got a better chance of motivating Larry because I think I know a little bit what he's thinking because we're two males.

Radnich Love Letters to 415 Media

Gary, the interns have been e-mailing once again saying you've began saying sweet-nothings about me. Hammer and Bungey aren't going to like that even though you can't contain yourself--hey, I know, it's addictive, even for you, a guy who has disdain for those damn bloggers.

Really, Gary, I appreciate the subtle plugs, but seriously, we have to stop meeting like this. You made a point of telling the folks out in radio land that I "wanted a job"--you couldn't help me, but that "I was a nice guy."

Ahh, how sweet of you. Really, Gair, that was some time ago. That was when you mattered. You were Joe Montana back then--now you're Steve DeBerg holding the clipboard for Elvis Grbac.

Funny how things change in life. I remember the time that everyone in town wanted to shine your shoes. You were the toast of Van Ness. The headliner. Who'd have thunk you're now reduced to interaction with the betting fool and an Evita wannabee.

Being the upstanding guy that I am, you still every now and then make me chuckle. I miss the solo interviews. Still marvel at the Jim Brown and Larry King phoners. (Who was responsible for that?) Did you get a Christmas card from Bob Agnew and Salvadore? Just askin.
