Hernandez and Darling are the gold standard. It'll be a sad day when they finally retire. Being a homer has negative inferences, but I find nothing wrong with it. For someone like Darling, it would only be a problem when he does national games. Most sports started in the East Coast, so the standards have always been higher. West Coast baseball didn't begin until the 50s, so they've always played second fiddle to East Coast teams, although the Giants have a longer history than the Mets.
Darling's a Harvard grad. Broadcasting wasn't something he wanted to do when he retired. It was only suggested to him about 5 years after retirement. I can't believe I forgot this, but Darling and Greg Papa broadcasted Oakland A's games for a season, then he went on to the Nationals, and finally with the Mets.
NY sports media vs SF? Fugazi bout it, SF sucks totally
