I'm a lifelong baseball fan and have no problems with Kuiper missing the HOF induction speeches. Generally, I enjoy watching the annual ceremony to see which HOFers show up, but I also choose to skip the entire show if a player I dislike is being inducted. Note David Ortiz. This year's inductees were interesting, especially Ichiro, who's speech was very good.
Not a fan of Duane, but saying it was a dereliction of duty is too harsh. He's not obligated to tune into everything MLB-related. Maybe if a Giant was inducted, I would agree with you, but I would categorize the recent Giants draft picks as a more pertinent topic for Duane to discuss.
Duane seems to be getting bitter, more ornery as he gets older. These sports anncrs want to go on forever. Not the easiest job because you’ve got to be sharp. Nobody wants to graciously go out on top.
What a shame. I missed it. But then again, I don't listen to KNBR. Period. I have other more important things to do...like cut my toe nails.

ReplyDeleteWe already know he is an overrated homer; now you can add classless to the list.
ReplyDeleteBrother of Glen Kuiper does not attend HOF ceremony with Japanese star inductee. Go figure.
