I think they should have offered the gig to Carmen Kiew. She'd really being in those post game listeners and advertisers. Wonder what ever happened to her and her fan girl crush on Brandon Belt?
The two most important requirements for being the Giants' post game host is that 1)They must be old and 2) They must have the ability to drone on mindlessly for hours and hours about the grand old game. The required ratio is at least two hours of post game for every one hour of actual game time.
During Marty's prime, you could catch a Giants/Dodger game in LA, then listen to the postgame in the parking lot, and Marty would still be on when you got back to the Bay Area.
Not a fan of Bill Laskey. He is all over the place with his wishy-washy opinion. Really, for that matter, all sports commentators are. If a player is doing great, they love 'em. If a player is struggling, they hate 'em. Radio hosts all say the same thing. If the team wins, all are happy. Sports talk is just terrible. Anyone can be an expert because it is all the same....it is all about personality.
Laskey is up there in years and I don't discredit his ability, just not sure if he would physically be up for it, nor want to? Same thing applies to Kruk & Kuip. They are appearing for more tired and drained. Add in health issues, it's demanding. Now, it is time for someone to address the 800.lb Gorilla in the room: Justin Verlander. Buster dropped the ball on this one and it never made sense at the onset. He's done. Future HOF. Go enjoy your family and supermodel wife in retirement. No shame to an incredible career. Granted the Giants lack of run support has been abysmal, he can no longer remain in the rotation. His starts are starting to look like Dusty's Thursday get-away games with Russ Ortiz. Time to move on!
Verlander isn't a starter anymore. If he wants to continue pitching, being a reliever is probably the best fit. Two or three short outings per week may help extend his career.
Unless Wisenhunt comes on like the second coming of Christ or an alternative to fill the void? No more overpaid rentals. I see Rodriguez as the closer. Verlander is just taking up a roster spot and we don't need another Jamie Moyer.
