I didn't realize the game last night was being shown on TNT as well I switched over at half time. Things he didn't address, the shot clock not working at the start of the game. Saying warriors were in the bonus when they were not. I feel bad for Azubuke as he is decent but has to correct Bib all the time.
I agree with very few if your opinions Rich, but yes, Fitz is the worst. From day one, uniformed, off the rack suits that don’t fit, talking over his color man. Worst of all no perspective for nuisances of the game, like say Bill King. The worst Bay Area sportscaster with any tenure behind a mic by far. Monty Moore, Charlie Finley suck up being 2nd
Totally onboard with the negative feelings about Fitz. He is a legend in his own mind. He is also a job thief, stabbing Greg Papa in the back to further his own career. The only reason Bay Area fans do not know more of this story is because Papa is a pompous ass as well and no one really cared. These two pale in comparison to the classy Ted Robinson, who is also a Notre Dame grad, but doesn't remind people like Fitz.
FYI Fitzgerald is the actual guy who went out with the ktvu intern named parisa not Somerville. I heard that he tried to impress her by saying that “he doesn’t do second class”. What kind of person says that???
Yep, I think within the past few years, yes. It has the Warriors current logo so that photo had to be between 2019 and this year.
Yeah, Fitz has let himself go a little bit. Just shows you how hard it is to lose weight even though Fitz has always been kind of stocky the past 10-15 years
I have no problems with Fitz honestly. Yeah, he can be a homer at times, and him complaining about the Warriors scheduling and about calls from the refs can be a little cringe, but Fitz does his HW and is prepared each game. Sure him and Kelenna may talk too much during the broadcast when a key play is happening, but overall, I'm cool with Fitz. Fitz has been calling Warrior games for years, have to be used to him by now.
As far as Kelenna goes, he's getting more and more comfortable in this role. He's replacing a legend in Jim Barnett. Had huge shoes to fill. Jim Barnett even recommended Kelenna for the job so it was probably a matter of time before Kelenna replaced Barnett on the Warriors TV broadcasts, as Kelenna was being groomed to be a color commentator.
He used to be more straight-forward with the play-by-play and not try to impress you so much with his knowledge when paired with Jim Barnett. Now, he's going overboard with the stats and trying to be more of an entertainer. Probably following producer philosophy.

ReplyDeleteHe is the worst. I can't listen to him. The Warriors appear to be a top notch organization and they have this buffon announcing.

There’s a reason his colleagues at NBC Sports privately refer to him as ’Boob Shitzgerald’

DeleteBy the way Rich, we need a video breaking down 49er pre and post guy, aka the stuttering wonder.
I had no problem watching the game on TNT cause Fitz and Azubuke both suck!

ReplyDeleteFitz = dirt bag
DeleteIs that photo current? If so, damn, he’s put on some serious weight. He’s looking like a cross between the pillsbury doughboy and the Michelin man.

30 years with the Warriors and will be forgotten the day he leaves. Kinda sad for an announcer with that many years.
