Too bad Rich. I know you had been pursuing an interview with Ronn for some time. I am sure you would have been fair with him, and it would have been an interesting discussion.
Rich, I get that you’re disappointed Ron bailed, but honestly, it’s for the best. He may be a Bay Area radio legend, but he’s also proven to be a master manipulator, conman grifter. If his GoFundMe is completely above board—every dollar going to medical expenses, nothing shady with his daughter—then why not spend 20 minutes on your show reminiscing about his career? If he has nothing to hide, why avoid the conversation?
Where there’s smoke, there’s fire—and right now, there’s a full-blown pyrocumulonimbus cloud hanging over him.
So his appointment book needed to be checked ? Had to check with lawyers? Probably staring at CNN all day drooling in a cup. Keep sending him money the horses needed more feed.
I worked with Ronn for many years. I once asked him how he could possibly believe what he had just said on-air. He replied “I can argue either side of an issue if I think I’ll get a good hour out of it.” He presented himself as the “voice of reason” but the truth is he was the biggest phony of the bunch and I worked with most of the big names. He was also a prima donna, demanding three cups of water filled to a certain line, green tea on his newspaper BEFORE he arrived, and bunch of other demands like that. We weren’t allowed to put “old women” on the air and if we did he’d scream at us. He had his long time female sound engineer moved to nights when he found someone younger. There’s not a lot of empathy amongst his former support staff. The guy was pulling in millions while we were making $18/hr. Daddee… I want another pony!
