I grew up in the 80s and everything seemed better back in those days. The music, the food, the programming, and people were more civil. Now, everyone is too involved with their phones and its all about getting noticed and getting paid to be noticed. It's tough to determine the true intentions of anyone these days.
Smartphones have only been around for about 15 years, but things have changed drastically since then. I remember having friendly conversations with strangers at just about any public place, but now strangers have their face glued to their phones constantly.
4:15. Used to be common place on long business flights. Strike up conversation with a fellow flyer and even share a cocktail or two. The ubiquitous integration of available technology, now precludes most if not all social interaction. It's not healthy.
Neither of you are wrong. Society has become self-absorbed and consumed with superficiality and self aggrandizement, that creates these personalities. It is all an illusion and they fail to recognize that it feeds on insecurity. The false sublime. Notice how many advertisements currently airing are nothing more than music videos? Feed the ego. It is insatiable. The air of pretension by so many is palpable and nearly inescapable. Everyone is the star of their own movie. It is truly sad to see, so many consumed by something.. that does absolutely nothing to enhance the quality of ones life.

Delete@1:42 completely agree. BTW, I had to look up the meaning of "self aggrandizement" :)
DeleteCase in point - the Gen Z B.S. behavior.
