About as genuine as his friend Mark Thompson. Thompson knew about the end of KGO two weeks prior and lied to his colleagues, the audience, and the press. His show was chosen for the flip because he was the only host working as an independent contractor (illegal in CA now) and he was paid out for the remaining year on his contract. Crying poor as he panhandled on YouTube, all the while collecting checks from Cumulus. Birds of a feather scam together!
I’m glad you didn’t interview him—he doesn’t need yet another platform to peddle his lies.
I know you said you won’t be addressing this again, but if you do, I have one request: stop referring to ‘the other side’ when talking about those involved with Laura Owen’s. They aren’t opponents in a debate—they’re victims. Owens repeatedly abused the legal system, filing multiple cases in bad faith, providing false testimony, and being held financially liable for at least one case where she weaponized the courts to smear a man she once pursued—someone who now wants nothing to do with her. And it’s no coincidence that Ronn’s GoFundMe page popped up just as her financial judgment came due.
And now, her actions have caught up with her. Maricopa County is actively investigating her pattern of behavior for potential criminal prosecution.
This is exactly right, Rich. The only story with Ronn and Jan is their daughter Laura’s scamming and harassing innocent victims.
Most pertinent: the Appeals court just ruled, rejecting all of Laura’s claims, and uniformly supporting the trial courts judgements against her, including attorneys fees ($200k) or so. Here’s the story just published by the Arizona Republic: https://www.azcentral.com/story/news/local/scottsdale/2025/04/01/former-bachelor-star-clayton-echard-wins-again-in-arizona-paternity-case/82749067007/
Ronn was there to entertain on the radio and he did it. Being honest had nothing to do with it. Let that be a lesson to not confuse honesty and entertainment.
Rich I know you are on record as not following Laura’s saga, but an appeals court ruled against her. The ruling was issued a day or so within the timeframe that Ronn cancelled his interview with you.
Ronn was exceptional in his day, but he (and his family for that matter) appear to be scammers now.

ReplyDeleteWho the hell even cares abut Ronn Owens? I assumed he was gone, but I guess I am handicapped by not listening to NPR.
