  2. Agree 100% Rich. Papa is unlistenable on Niners’ games.
Then Monday they rehashed his screams, and again, CLICK turn that shit off.
The guy is overzealous - no one could possibly call him understated.
Yesterday the 3rd string TV announcers were 10,000 times better than Papa & T-Rockhead.
But the Niners are mid-pack and have but a slim chance of making the playoffs. Only 4 more games of the excitable midget of Danville- his days at KNBR are numbered.
I will not miss the Buffalo boor.

  3. He's not much different from his days with the Raiders. I don't think you listen to Papa enough, because he does explain the football terminology.....maybe not all of them, but enough to learn something. He's not great, but still better than most on the radio these days.

  4. Terrible play-by-play listen. Consistently fails to tell you where the ball is, gain on the play and the down. That should be a basic fundamental of broadcasting. Instead interjects adjectives and other distractions to add excitement to the broadcast before he bothers with the fundamentals. It's a maddening listen.

  5. The loser Papa was going over a play from yesterday and said the back ran a 40 time of 4.3222 compared to the other 49er RB at 4.2232. Every uneducated athlete he interviews he says how extremely intelligent they are and they have a bright future in broadcasting or whatever they want to after football. lol.

  6. Papa sounds like he wants to the games alone because of the way he steps all over Ryan.

  7. Showed up for Warriors training camp giggling about paying off a bet and having to do push ups. Steve Kerr ignored him. Clown couldn’t do 1 push up claims bad back flair up. F-ing clown probably wears loafers and jeans!

    1. @5:42- LOL. I remember that. I think it was kind of awkward because Papa just showed up to Warriors practice/training camp out of nowhere. Not sure if KD remembered the bet, but it was supposed to be a fun thing.

I think the bet was for the Raiders and the then Washington Redskins game back in 2018. I think if the Raiders won that game, KD would've had to have done pushups, but since the Redskins won, Papa had to do pushups and I think he did them live on air. It was hilarious listening to this that day and how awkward it kind of was, but everyone overall had fun with it from what I remember of it. I'm sure Papa went over this with KD and/or the Warriors beforehand.

  8. Papa has become such a Homer. His touchdown calls sound like some crazed soccer announcer. Papa and the loudmouth Tim
Ryan are the most annoying football radio tandem we’ve ever had in the booth in the bay area. They scream over each other and sound like fans. And Papa tries to “impress” everyone with his technical jargon. WTF cares? Isn’t that what Tim Ryanbus supposed to do? Bull King and Lon Simmons never did that. Who cares whether the defensive tackle rushed through the A gap or whether the running back ran a jet sweep,
Hey Greg, just a suggestion. As a listener, do what Bill King, Lon Simmons and even Joe Starkey, did; please tell us who caught the ball, where he caught it and how many yards it was thrown. You’d think after doing the Raiders for all those years, and now the 49ers; for another 7 years, you’d think Greg Papa would have gotten better. Guess what?
He hasn’t gotten better..he’s gotten worse. And they replaced the perfectly capable and popular Ted Robinson with this fan boy? Who was the idiot who made that decision?

    1. Bob Sargent who is the incompetent Director of Broadcasting for the 49ers is the guy responsible for Greggy, former friends and drinking buddies of course.

    2. @4:33am. So we can thank Bob Sargent for the mediocrity! The good old boys Club is intact and very much alive. Drink and slap backs with Bob, get a job. Where does this old Portuguese apply? Or am I slated for making Garlic fries?

  9. Greg Papa at one time when he dad a show on 1050 1pm solo was quite good KNBR should make the show solo again and save a couple of $$ and make the show half way dexcent.

  10. If Greg was any good he would have moved onto the Network or ESPN.

Man, you got all of it right, though I think Robinson better suited for tennis or golf. Whatever one wants to say about Papa, he smells of cheap wine and lousy cologne.
Let’s be honest, he WAS Al’s bitch for years. Now he’s whose Bitch? I guess KNBR’s resident bitch, after Murphy. When the Niners change stations I hope they won’t bring along the Man “so well endowed” he has been married 4 times.

  12. Papa literally looks like a rat...

  13. Look at that face. What a dork. He's living off his initial fame when he came to the Bay Area to take Bill King's place on Warriors games in the 1980s. There was a big hoop-dee-do about him because he went to Syracuse and that great broadcasting school which produced Bob Costas. Gregory Poopface actually sounded normal then. But his doofus head got too big. Now he doesn't paint a picture for his audience. He assumes people turn down the TV sound and listen to him and Man Bun, who never played for the 49ers. At least other teams use former players who played for their teams to do the analysis. You can listen to the other team's call of the game on nfl.com or if you have satellite radio. You don't have to listen to Gregory and Timmy Boy.

You are spot on - that haircut is ridiculous !! Half-way gay, half-way flobee! Who does his hair? Zeus of Blackhawk?

  16. Nobody wants Greg Papa all the teams except the 49ers have him on any of their shows. That shows how popular he is with bay area sports teams.

  17. Jr. is unlistenable too…just sayin’

  18. He is very hard to listen to and used to talk over Lund all the time and will most definitely do the same to Silver. And the guy never completes a sentence, just keeps going on and on without a pause or a stop.

  19. ...and a side note to Aiyuk's unfortunate injury. Don't have to hear Papa & Ryan's juvenile rant "AIYUK-AIKUK"...almost as bad as Papa's TD call!

    ReplyDelete
  20. We have only 3 weeks of hearing Papa bloviate. After that, maybe KNBR will give him the boot !! That’s a Christmas present many of us have been begging for.

  21. I could do without Ryan's glee every time some player gets a hard hit. 'HE JUST GOT KISSED!!!!"

  22. I meet him at Freidmans Appliance guess they were doing some form of sales event and mistakingly thought he was a salesman as was in the market for dishwasher. He said dont you know who I am and ran over to the table and signed a photo of him and gave to me. inscribed touchdown 49ers.What an ego he has . Nobody was paying attention to him.

    1. How telling it is that nobody cares about GP. I suspect he is viewed as just another face in the crowd at Niners games.
A tireless self promoter, Papa has no filter. Pathetic.
