As a Democrat, I gravitated toward MSNBC in 2016 when they embraced their identity as the “anti-Trump” and “anti-Fox News” network—a stance that, in my view, sowed the seeds of their decline. Over time, their anchors and positions veered so far left that they alienated all but the most ardent progressives and staunch Trump opponents. My viewership dwindled until, early last year, I hid the channel from my YouTube TV channel guide entirely. Now, msnbc doesn’t even appear as I scroll through the menu.
