Piling on KNBR is Easy, Here's Why

  1. I admire you for listening to KNBR they way it is. I stopped a few years back. Its pretty bad and getting worse.

  2. I just heard Dopey Copes 2pm intro, where he talks about the Warriors game today. All he did was laugh by himself for a few minutes in between barely understandable words. He should find a full time gig at a comedy club. Sports talk isn't for him.

    1. Totally agree! I get that local sports talk radio hosts are basically "professional fans." But at least come up with some reasonably intelligent takes. How can any fan be surprised the Ws lost if you've been watching all year?

    2. Copey Dopes’ own father is a terrible “comedian”. The only legitimate job Dopes could get at a comedy club besides cleaning the toilets would be to sit in the back and cackle like a hyena. KNBR is now so bad that we long for the “good old days” when Raddy Rickles was waxing poetically about Beyonce’s latest album.

  3. It's pretty obvious that KNBR is trying to shed salaries and having Copes bring in all his inexperienced buddies. Sometimes it sounds like a college radio station.

  4. Rich you are correct - KNBR is only going to get worse (which is almost hard to believe as they are near bottom now. Many of us have given up on KNBR. They appeal to no demographic: we “kids” don’t like them, and I doubt old guys would get the inside jokes.
When Miller, Fleming/Kuiper are not announcing Giants games, I skip the broadcast. Someone wrote that the announcers are Giants employees, are the Giants intentionally trying to lose listeners like the A’s?
I do not see KNBR getting resurrected any time soon. Perhaps KNBR needs to die and be reincarnated as good source of information, with intelligent hosts, and witty reparteé? Like you Rich, I won’t hold my breath.

  5. A truly pathetic operation, top to bottom, that has been rotting for more than a decade.

  6. Copey Copes GUARANTEED a Warriors victory! What a clown... Tick tock Adam... You're only going to have the NFL Draft & under achieving Giants baseball to talk about soon. I mean we all know you and Tolbert will dabble in the NBA playoffs and beer but no one's really listening. How long can you keep this station afloat?

  8. The last time sports talk was must listen radio was when Brandon Tierney was on.

  9. KNBR exemplifies what has happened to the radio industry. Since the deregulation of the industry, huge mega-media companies have scooped up as many stations as possible. As these companies have consolidated their properties, they have fired or laid off experienced announcers and hired low paid, inexperienced unprofessional announcers. Embarrassing.

  10. The fact that KNBR put Copey-dopes on the air and then made him program director is proof positive that KNBR has gone down the toilet.
