  1. Think Soros bought Audacy, if so more problems

    1. In February,Soros Management purchased 40% of Audacy debt to the tune of about $400M. Acquiring stake in over 200 stations. Why? Peer down the Rabbit hole Alice. I believe it was Noam Chomsky that said; He who controls the media controls the minds of the public". Nightmares are real. Heather Holmes has played the perfect ingenue and her stability and dedication to KTVU will be for naught. They used her. Sadly, I do not see brighter days and sunnier skies for her there. The finely tuned, unbroken spoke in the wheel spins the truest. The clouds are forming quickly and even more tumultuous times lie ahead. Will be interesting to see what survives and crawls underneath the debris field at the end of the year. Provided any of us are still here?

  2. KNBR's draft preview was good today. Good guest list as well.

  3. What you said about Betty is accurate. The reception she's received at her new employer has been very muted and subdued to say the least. There hasn't been the same level of excitement and welcoming internally that we've seen when we've brought on other established names.

    1. I think Ms. Yu shot herself in the foot, long-term. No one likes a sneaky turncoat. That's how she comes across. It's like a traitor defecting to another country. If your first country couldn't trust you, why would the new one? And when you're on your own again, no one will touch you with a ten-foot poll.

Wanna bet in five years she ends up either in PR or as some sort of fashion or modeling consultant, or an "influencer," whatever the hell that is...

    2. Because she’s probably making more than reporters that have made their bones there. And she’ll start getting all the plumb assignments.

  4. Because the Fairness Doctrine brought us the likes of Glenn Beck, Rust Lintball, and Sean Hammity. Conspiracy and race-baiting and hatred. You get what you pay for.

  5. Common sense dictates Heather will be givens Julie’s job whenever Julie decides to retire. And if I was the boss that’s exactly what I’d do. She has earned it based on her performance and professionalism and competence. But my spidey sense says that, despite all that, something else is afoot at KTVU. I hope I’m wrong but I suspect Yu went to KTVU because she was led to believe she will become the face of the station as the lead anchor. She made it very clear at PIX that was her ultimate goal and I see no reason to believe that has changed.

Um, when did you ever see common sense prevail at KTVU?

Not since the Fred Zehnder days.

    2. If she wants to be the face of the station the first thing she has to do is have her lips de-botoxed.

    3. Exactly. If Betty Yu is considered a star, then Heather Holmes is also a star. And if Heather is primed to be the next prime time anchor at ktvu, then why would they bring in Yu who aspires to have the same role and hasn’t been shy about her career ambitions? Someone in another post commented that Ktvu may ultimately give Yu her own newscast and brand it as such (a la Sara Donchey, Audrey Assistio, and Juliette Goodrich who each anchor a show with their name in the official title) I think that makes sense with Yu. Anything else and it’s only a matter of time before this turns into a full blown clusterfuck.

  6. Back to KCBS. I know Ed Cavagnaro retired a few years ago, and Bob Agnew left many years before. I hope Bob Butler, Doug Sovern, Jim Taylor, and Holly Quan are still there. Maybe Todd Smoot and Debra Ingerson behind the scenes? Can Mike Sugerman come back from New York? More from the past: Barbara Taylor, Bob Melrose, Larry Chiaroni, Frank Knight, and Steve Little. Good people, great station back in the day. Did I mention Larry Cooper and Clancy Cassell? Al Hart and Ken Ackerman? People you trusted to give you the news. Oh wait ... News and More on 74 ... KCBS San Francisco. [hourly tone] It's 6 o'clock. How was that?

  7. From a business and management perspective, is KTVU or KPIX preferable as an employer; opportunities; employees somehow happier; any other characteristics; or approx. the same and just different or a change for Ms. B. Yu? Overall, it's good to hear Betty Yu is still local and hasn't left the industry for some kind of Public Info Officer job or something else, not to say anything is wrong with that if someone decides to do so.

    1. So what's the latest with Mornings on 2 Weekends, Rich? Canceled? On hiatus? Status of the affected employees? The people want to know! Please get to the bottom of it. Thanks.

    2. 10:38, have you forgotten? Rich told us to get a grip and watch the show. Yes, the show that has been removed from ktvu’s program schedule and from their website entirely.

    3. At about 1024 p.m. during the 10 O'Clock News on Fri 4-26-24, there was a short promo spot saying that due to studio maintenance work this weekend, all KTVU news programs will only be available online. Maybe the mystery of Mornings on 2 Weekends has finally been solved? Now we can get the hostages back and work on a 2-state solution. No, I don't mean Coastal and Eastern California. All right, carry on.

  8. The other day Rich posted a video entitled “A Bay Area Media Heavyweight: Ross McGowan LIVE and Direct” and included a photo of Ross McGowan and Ann Fraser. In the photo Ann looks like Julie Haener if Julie had the same hairstyle and glasses.

  9. Once again Ms Yu was MIA on tonight’s 10 o’clock news. So much for her debut. How long before we start hyperventilating over Yu’s sudden disappearance from KTVU? Let’s hope for no more hospital drama.

    1. She's probably having all the botox, gunk and fillers removed from her lips in the hope she'll be taken more seriously as a news person instead of looking all stupid like a wannabe influencer kardashian type.

    2. I’ve never paid much attention to her but whenever I see her it does appear those duck lips are unnatural. It’s sad women feel the need to desecrate their bodies for attention.
