How dare you @4:49. Mr Rothman served in the Nixon administration AND was the resident presidential historian at KGO for years before the evil Dicky brothers’ reign of terror. He also has a low bass booming voice.
You often talk about the nasty comments you receive and trolls who patrol your page, but I notice you never post those comments. (I don’t blame you; I wouldn’t either.) However, I think it'd be interesting to read some of them aloud in one of your Pulse broadcasts. Giving the audience a sense of the type of abuse or hate that you receive will give us all a better appreciation of your ability to tune it all out each day, and it might also inspire people to donate to you. Just a thought.
Yes Rich, every time you criticize a news anchor, newscast, radio personalities/shows, also say however the makeup, lighting, camera, sound, and visual display personnel (assuming no typos) are doing great jobs. Do you have to cater to these employees who evidently need a pat on the back? A show’s producer who does or approves the stupid sound effects and dumb ass sound bites may be pertinent to evaluation by you for a media YouTuber/blogger but all else involved in the production in the affirmative “good job” done category? Do you need to lament for behind the scenes personnel who need “validation support” for having to listen to the cringeworthy on air talent all morning long while enabling the “production”. Good for them to successfully plug in or turn on a teleprompter or slap makeup on well. Same for delivering sound quality or whatever the talk radio production manager for likely the KNBR morning show posted recently that you should acknowledge. Why does someone opining on media like you need to acknowledge their good behind the scenes performance? Is your blog/YouTube about these people too? Your videos are generally too long and slow to the point as it is. They want a media YouTuber/blogger to assess and acknowledge such great performance/achievement as turning on the microphones and testing for proper sound quality and you want to oblige I guess. Good grief!
Just curious what happened to Big Bruce Macgowan who was doing a lot of sports updates for KGO and KCBS in recent years. He was one of the originals at KNBR when they started the all sports format 35 years ago and I never got the story of why “ The Sports Leader” cut him loose. Anyone know what happened?
Great question. He was one of those reliable, steady hands at KNBR when they had clowns like Scott Ferrell passing through town. A meat and potatoes reliable host without sound effects or farting jokes.
Rich, it's simple pros do the work, amateurs and wannabees rebrand themselves as Media Critics. No matter the beef I may have with the talent (or lack of) in the Bay Area, what are your bona fides ?
Nobody talks about how "Saint John" on 99.7FM manages to be the teen pied piper of the Bay Area while well into his mid-sixties yet continuing to puke at the kids like it's 1979. THAT must be one iron clad contract! OK, y'all can talk about Ronnnnnn Owens some more now. Those were the daze, after all. Oakland's KLX had it goin' on. But Don Sherwood....
Could you give an update on John Rothmann? Or an interview?
ReplyDeleteRothmann is a self important ass

ReplyDeleteCrazy weather today. One moment, the rain is falling like water out of a faucet, and 30 seconds later it's bright sunshine.
ReplyDeleteRoss McGowan should be a very relaxed interview. He seems very calm and non-controversial.
ReplyDeleteHey Frank: There's an opening for an anchor in Fresno. I kid you not.
