Pam Moore and KRON

PAM MOORE has a lot on her plate, privately and professionally.

Moore, the longtime KRON anchor, a Bay Area fixture, dealt with a fall. Still dealing with it.

It happened at the KRON studio and it resulted in her missing almost two months and still impacting her health as she recovers although her hip, shoulder, and lower back are still aching. Moore is much better and has returned to work but she's still hurting.

I bring this up because I hear every now and then (much more recently) that Moore might be considering her retirement plans. She has done it all and could leave on her own terms but is still at the top of her game. And KRON needs her. Her anchor chops are 100% cogent and reliable. Her cred gives KRON cred and masks the various daily reminders of what is KRON today and what was once the old KRON. And KRON knows that. So do viewers.

On the other hand, watching KRON as I invariably do, I see a different Moore. She looks a little jaded. It's not a knock just an honest reflection. And even at that, Moore is as steady as ever and does a more-than-adequte job at the desk, albeit maybe not as enthusiastic as years past. We're all getting older and jaded. I still regard Pam as one of the Bay Area's elite news anchors. Have the utmost respect for her. I hope her KRON days are nowhere close to ending.

  1. Pam Moore is a great anchor and an even better person. The world would be better place with more Pam Moores.

  2. I find her a wrinkled and depressed mess and think she should have moved on ten years ago. At least Heenan still tries a little.

Ken Wayne phones it is, but he did that at Ch 2 too. Possibly the most boring male anchor in the Bay Area.

If you prefer Heenan, you must prefer dry white toast.

    3. Imagine if they fired all the male anchors who have "wrinkles".

Bastida's not dull, he's just a dim bulb who thinks he's the brightest light in the room. There's a difference.

    6. If the toast has a spread on it then it is not dry white toast.

  4. I was privileged to work at KRON in the 'old' days, on Van Ness, when the station's news had talent from top to bottom. Pam Moore and Pete Wilson were a tremendous anchor team, easily network quality. The folks from those days still working at KRON continue to be smart, professional, and every bit as terrific of reporters and anchors as they ever were. The finest years of my career were working alongside these folks (in the control room). KRON and Bay Area News will be less when they do decide to hang it up.

    1. A local paper once described Pete Wilson as a "smug jackass" and I thought the label fit perfectly.

  5. Here, here to the first comment. Pam is a class act, as I have had the pleasure of meeting her and dealt with her on a regular basis. That said, it has to be tiring doing the same thing for so long and having to deal with inept producers, or at least new producers and writers all the time. Pam is much better than Catherine. Heenan comes off bored and bland.

    Saying a criticism isn't a criticism, doesn't alter the fact it's criticism.
