Meanwhile, he's already updating his resume.

Change is good.
ReplyDeleteHowever, remember that this is KRON, a chronically under-performing station that has been mismanaged for 20 years. Little real programming and what there is of it is News. Sounds good, but the problem is you have multiple hours each day to fill.
Because both the industry and the station has changed, there's no money to go after marquee talent. KRON has become a "first job place" for j school grads. Lots of energy, but little grounding beyond how to operate the camera.
Hoping for massive improvement due to a news director is akin to winning the lottery.
Furthermore, hopes that one of the nonets or one of the old-time broadcasters will ride in and buy KRON is also wishful thinking.
Celebrate the change in leadership, but be realistic. That's probably all that will happen.
