Nobody Cares About KTVU Anymore Especially Its People; Janelle Wang NBC Bay Area Lightweight Yenta; De La Cruz Meh; Tim Ryan Gets in Greg Papa's Face on KNBR; About Time; Friday Mix

Elaine Corral reporting for #KTVU back in the 80's. | Tv news, Photo archive, People

*Janelle Wang, really? Quit trying to pretend that you are worthy. You're there at NBC Bay Area because they needed someone for demo purposes. You have all the interest and authority of a Sunnyvale 7-11. I used to think, Janelle, that you had real talent and gusto, but the truth is, you have neither, you're a walking annoyance.  And more vanilla than week-old wonder bread. By the way, Jessica still thinks you're a yenta.

YEARS AGO, it was almost an honor to watch the news on KTVU, any news, any time period. Any place. You cared. I did. It was refreshing to watch a Dennis Richmond, an Elaine Corral, a Barbara Simpson, a Claud Mann, Gary Park. I could go on.

Why?

Because they CARED!

There was a universal passion and determination to not only get the information out but to do so in the utmost professional manner. To show vigor and professionalism and make sure you were on board. It was that passion that made KTVU the envy of the industry.

TODAY? What a travesty. A certified joke. An abundance of low-talent misfits with a pulse meter slightly more relevant than the toilet bowl of a Castro Valley strip mall. How sad and pathetic to watch the 10 O'clock News every night and see a BORING pack of benign misfits who look BORED and uninteresting. Wake me up when there's something and someone to care for and worry.

*Yeah, I know Veronica De La Cruz isn't passion central. And yes, she's hardly the talk of the town. When I said she moves the needle, I was referring to local traction. She has no pulse nationally and she hardly has the Bay Area bear, I get it. Again, the little care she has here is just worthy enough that she merits attention. But more than that? Hardly a pulse. On life support. And here's the most telling thing: No one at PIX seems to give a damn about her status. They all just shake their head and seem to shrug her status. As a veteran staffer told me a few weeks ago, it's a been there/done that attitude. Truly, they really DON'T CARE anymore about VDLC. Sad and true.Veronica De La Cruz on Twitter: "Goodbye, #2018! @Instagram tells me these were my best moments of the year. Thank you for all your #love, #friendship, #support, and #laughter. On to better

*Tim Ryan, the 49ers' brash and talented radio color analyst on KNBR, got in the face of Greg Papa, on their air on Thursday no less; Ryan told Papa he was projecting a "negative persona"; it was refreshing to hear someone call out Papa, a massively insecure, albeit talented broadcaster who has the ego the size of Texas.

Papa can be a cool guy and warming personality. His PBP technique and ability to broadcast a game is second to none. Love his work (although I'm still not crazy on "TOUCHDOWNNNNN San FRAN-Cisco".)

But Papa can be mean and small-minded. An asshole, to be blunt.  He also thinks he's God and he really isn't. And many times, I've heard unflattering stories about how bad Papa can treat some younger underlings at both KNBR and The Game. Therefore, I'm delighted he was called out by Tim Ryan. About time.

*Nikki Medoro: the countdown clock is on and it's not positive.

*All the FM music stations in this market sound the same which is why I can't write about FM here, I wish there were exceptions.

*Bloomberg 960 AM is sort of a radio version of CSPAN10.

*Trump made Savannah Guthrie look good and boy is that hard to do. Sort of.

  1. For an "Emmy Award-Winning Meteorologist" Rosemary Orozco sure is posting a lot of fashion shots on Instagram

  2. Maybe we should work a trade to get the Papa who works on the East Coast. Bob Papa has been the voice of the New York Giants for many years. Solid talent that you can hear on SiriusXM during the week on "The Opening Drive" on the NFL channel and his call of the Giants games on Sundays. The Papa we have is one big poopa.

  3. The problem with most Bay Area radio/TV stations is the way they select the news. We never get the whole story. Only stories that are favorable to Democrats and stories that are unfavorable to Republicans. They are not neutral and unbiased.

    1. The intent of journalism is two-fold: 1) to inform and 2) to challenge authority. Republicans, for some reason, never understand 2). Side note...those nighttime cable shows (on both sides) are entertainment shows and are not journalism. For real journalism, just watch the nightly 30 minute national news shows on ABC, CBS or NBC. Straight-forward and fact-based.

    2. You're projecting national news onto local news. I see plenty of local stories pointing out problems with Democrat-controlled local governance.

    1. No, it takes two Elaine Corral's weight wise to equal one Rebecca

    2. Didn't they both marry the same Mr. Corral ?

  5. I don't see how VDLC being a single mom from DAY 1, child without his real father makes her a proud woman and reporter, what a SHAME and DISGRACE to the news industry as a fail reporter.

  7. Guthrie is a complete hack. She was supposed to be the moderator. She hogged all the time. Asking more questions than the people in the so called Town Hall. It was a sham.

Meanwhile Grandpa Joe was served more softballs from Stephanopolous. As Trump said, they asked him questions that you would ask a child. The fix is in. The unabated manipulation of the so called free press doesn't even hide their bias anymore. Yet Trump will win again. 4 more years!

    1. You mean that Donnie did very poorly and you want to blame the journalist? See Bill of Rights for the first time, apparently. Do you know where to find it? A free press, whose job it is to hold the feet of elected officials to the fire, is the cornerstone of democracy.Donnie was sure he could manipulate a girl reporter. He was wrong,as usual.

Haha, funniest and most untrue thing I have read in a long time. If you think the MSM is unbiased you are not paying attention or you are a liar. Or both. Thanks for laugh!

    1. OK...watch a recent national news show and please provide an example of something that is not fact-based.

  10. 960 is a good alternative for me. Why 910 dumped the format and went BIN is a mystery to me. Talking about boring shit. Wonder how the ratings are?

  12. Haha, comments from CC always amuse me. A long ago relic that was never very good. Now trying to hang on and demonstrate some relevance. Next time you think you have something important to say...please don't. Boring as usual.
