THIS ISN'T GOOD NEWS FOR KGO.It's the August 2020 Ratings book and while it's the so-called "Beauty Contest" numbers (advertisers don't buy based on this model) it is another reminder KGO's revamped 2020 iteration hasn't produced any nirvana --more stagnancy really.
A 1.2 August book hardly is cause for celebration at the 810 AM News-Talk power. And it doesn't bode well for a talk station in an election year that is the talk of the nation.
The morning show is a disaster and isn't moving the needle and is stuck in ratings purgatory.
Nikki Medoro has had six months to register on the Bay Area social domain and she clearly hasn't. You can do a lot of boasting and cheering but numbers don't lie. The proof is in the pudding.
Medoro isn't alone.

ReplyDeleteIn my opinion KGO's problem is that's it's just F$#@?ed UP. Back in the day you could turn to the great 810 AM Radio anytime of the day or night and have something to listen to, even if you didn't agree. Most of the programming outside of a few hours is just crap now!!!
ReplyDeleteI find people I don't know personally talking about what their kids say and do to be edge-of-your-seat entertainment, so I can't understand why her ratings aren't through the roof. Life can be a mystery sometimes...
ReplyDeleteStation is garbage. Don’t blame Medoro for taking the job. No business being a morning lead talk host. Blame the people who thought it was a good idea. When you pinch hit a guy who bats .150 you Blame the manager. She’s a fine #2.
ReplyDeleteThompson also appears on the Tim Conway Jr. show on KFI 640 on Tuesday nights. Thompson announced tonight that he's moving to the San Fernando Valley.

ReplyDeleteWednesday, 9/9/2020 10:24 AM, Mark Thompson reported on someone getting Covid 19 to the accompaniment of canned laughter. Twice. Wholly inappropriate and disgusting. The show is not worthy of listening to, his ratings deserve to be poor.
ReplyDeleteI kind of like Mark Thompson. Of course he is no Gene Burns, Rothmann or even Ronn in his hay day. I like him because he seems like a really nice person, loves cats, seems very compassionate. His show is not all bad, he does good interviews, Karla Marranuchi, other reporters as well. Considering some of the host we have had the past several years on different stations, remember 910 a.m. Gill Gross and those 2 guys one named Joel, that talked about nothing. Others Frosty, Montemayor Mark is better than any of them, so I listen because there are not much else on at that hour, and he keeps me somewhat entertained most of the time.
ReplyDeleteThompson stated on air this past weekday morning that so many bay area residents are moving to Lake Tahoe that their was on "single digits" house available. I then checked zillow and found 500+ houses for sale. I just found that very odd - fake news kind of a show. Not sure why he would lie like that when anyone can check his statement.
ReplyDeleteI was saying this about Medoro when she started invading Chip's show (who is not that great by himself): Just because you can read the news and weather, it doesn't mean you can be a talk-show host. And Mark Thompson is often annoying in his own way. Ans lastly, KGO has really gone downhill. One of the things that cause me to hit the off button on the radio are the promos. As the hosts go into a break, they usually identify themselves, e.g., "John Rothmann, KGO 810." Then the next thing you hear is "You're listening to John Rothmann on KGO!" Hey, he just said that! All that combined with annoying ads, like a guy talking about mortgages like he's so excited he's about to burst, and I often turn of the radio and miss parts of shows. What happened, KGO?
