IF AND WHEN, Frank Somerville takes a hike at 10 PM, KTVU sees Andre Senior as their anchor in waiting --I'm hot and cold on Senior. I think he's better than average but I'm not ready to go full-time-- prime time with him. He's more a niche news reader. We'll see.
Plus, Somerville will probably get an extension before March of 2021 when his current deal expires but way, way, LESS than his $615K salary, thanks to a new world and Fox budget reality.
* Chip Franklin has been working the morning KGO drive from 6-10 AM (filling in for Nikki Medoro ) and that's not a coincidence. I don't know what KGO is feeling right now. They have invested a lot in Medoro but they also are aware she's not the long-term solution for the morning--I HAVE AN IDEA: Move Franklin from afternoon to morning and switch back Medoro to 3-6 PM.

Medoro doesn't work in the morning. She's better than when she first started back in March but her ordinary spiels are tiresome and grating. And she isn't taking the advice of friends who have told her as much. Her voice, which is nice and makes men (mostly) quiver is better suited for the PM.
By the way, a Chip-Nikki duo? That might be on the agenda notes.
*With NY off his radar, NBC Bay Area 's Raj Mathai can entrench himself in San Jose but he's also getting people pissed off because the "arrogant" Raj has re-surfaced and it's not a pretty picture. Raj, please check your ego at the door.
*Eric Thomas is HOPING like heck that ABC/Disney offers him a buyout because Thomas wants the hell out of ABC and into freedom where he can breathe easy and not worry about covering fires in Daly City.
Janelle Wang has a lot on her mind and it's not pleasant. She feels isolated at NBC Bay Area and wonders every day what her long-term future is. She thought Jessica Aguirre would be long gone by now so she could work and become Raj's partner but Jess is going nowhere (for now) --Wang has a family and young kids so an out-of-market venture is unlikely.

*Michael Krasny used to bad-mouth Ronn Owens all the time now they're practically bed buddies. Krasny said Owens is master superficial which is sort like saying there's a lot of sugar in orange juice.
*"Be safe", "stay safe", "how's the family doing?" --the most lame and common sports-talk radio host ask their guests as if they're trying to sound caring --it's best to just keep it simple and concise.
Nikki's voice makes men quiver like impending diarrhea makes men quiver. It's along the same lines.

Nikki sounds like she's talking to 11 year old girl scouts and is much more annoying than with Chimp. What was KGO thinking? ReplyDeleteWhen you say Chip "draws numbers", what numbers have you seen? KGO's numbers are terrible in all dayparts and they can't sell anything. Every spot you hear is an "add on" from a package deal an advertiser bought to be on KSAN or KNBR. I've seen Chip's Nielsen numbers and they're in the toilet.

Can't stand Chip, at least Nikki allows callers and texters that disagree to voice their opinions. Hard to hear the drum beating one way all day. KCBS becomes the only option, music stations or my phone. KGO sucks.

DeleteThe only two people I have listened to new's talk is Dr. Dean and Len Tillmen and some Dr. Bill so it has been a very long time that I have listen to anyone that is current.I have never heard of Chip Franklin or Nikki until reading this blog.
