Bill Martin is Getting Worser at KTVU

Bill Martin | KTVU FOX 2I HATE TO KEEP PICKING on Bill Martin.

Seriously.

But have you watched him lately?

Mumblin' Stumblin, Martin. It's getting downright painful to watch and that's on good nights.

And Billy isn't helped by KTVU's want to think that the weather is so damn important the first --of what seems like 48 thousand weather reports at 10 PM--has to be in the first segment.

Then again. And again. And again. And again.

Following riots and lootings --nice fluidity (wink)

And then Martin and weather. Good segue -- makes a lot of sense. Especially the lovely audio quality equipment, (roll eyes) that sounds (again) like it was purchased at a local Radio Shack Nice going, Fox.

Yeah, talk about high pressure building up the coast.

He's getting worser.

  1. I just love the word worser, although is that even a word, heck I use it frequenty.I would love to be a weather guy, wrong 75% of the time and still keeps my job. Maybe we should get rid of all the Weather people and just have a ticker on bottom of screen was suggested by Howard Stern. Although I love how they do the weather in South Fla, everything is so sensational and the weather people, yes the females are as hot as the hot temperature down there, yea I like looking at hot women, no crime there.

  2. Neal: "worser", intentional usage. I didn't italicize, now you know...the rest of the story.

  3. Hi Rich,

Off Subject, Can you comment on the former KTVU reporter Sara Sidner that now is on CNN. I think she is a stellar reporter. What's your opinion of her?

    1. Wrote about Sara Sidner last week. She's very good. Always has been.

  4. He's done soon, hopefully. In the meantime, more Cristina Rendon, please. She's a hella lot better than Heather "Fake Lips" Holmes. I'd rather have Amber "Deadpan" Lee at the desk compared to Fat Lips.

  5. Hi Rich: Several times during the past 2 week I noticed on their 10 pm newscast whenever either Frank or Julie would immediately segue to Bumbling Bill Martin the camera shot either caught him with his Eyes Closed or a Baffled Look of Total Unpreparedness. Instead of KTVU allowing Martin to continue working until his contract expires in a year Fox Honchos need to definitely Intervene Now to Replace Befuddled Bill Martin with either Mark Tamayo or Rosemary Orosco. Rich: I absolutely Love Your Blog! Keep Up Your Great Work! Cary SF

  6. Ever since Bill relieved himself on air week before last, he hasn’t been the same.

  7. I no longer watch the weather as my iPhone app now gives me all I need to know with the ability to query different cities, too. I think I last looked at the weather on tv back when Roberta Gonazales, Samantha Mohr, and Rhonda Bentley (unknown why she left and where she went). I totally tuned out of the weather about when Jacqueline Bennett left. I used to work outside and at some point I bought an iPhone. Sorry weather-people.

  8. He's always more concerned with identifying the landmarks shown from their weather cam than reporting on the actual weather. His cat is cute though!

  9. The Firm doesn't want to buy out Martin's contract. So however long it takes to run out, more Mumbling Stumbling airwave pain is coming.

  10. To quote George Carlin's "Hippy Dippy Weatherman:" if you want to know what the weather is, look out the window. Works for me everytime.

  11. Then there's KCBS, weather on the "eights". And the constant "hey, it's really going to be hot"! They need traffic on the EIGHTS??

  13. Mark Tamayo &/or Rosemary Orosco would be a great improvement.

There, problem solved. And Rosemary takes over mornings for Steve when he's ready to forecast off into the sunset.

  15. Does anyone know exactly why he has gone down hill so badly? Is he physically ill, substance abuse prob, family issues, genetics, or what? I know medical stuff is sensitive to report on (see Veronica De La Cruz) and you have to be careful about HIPPA laws and such but, man, I remember Bill when he was younger - surfing, and sharp as a whip with the weather. Then, seems like overnight, he turns into this old white-hair guy with diminishing faculties. What the heck happen?!

  16. I have been out in the line up with Bill many times down at Linda Mar Beach in Pacifica and yes surf, sand, sun, salt and every kook in the Bay Area trying to learn to surf at this beach will turn you to mush.

  17. If you are blind or not in the position to see the television during his weather reports, you will NOT know what the temperatures or weather conditions are or will be. He just says, “this is what they are and this is what they will be.” “Here are the conditions for tomorrow, and then the next day, and then the next.” So frustrating because I have to wait until 11 pm to watch another channel (ABC7) to get a more detailed version of the weather.
