Why is Dennis O'Donnell not allowed in the KPIX studio?

    1. I'm getting a lot of contact about Dennis O'Donnell --and that's one I get a lot but at this point I have no idea I'll speculate it's Covad-19 related.

  2. Inquiring minds want to know. For the JR Stone story, which bakery produced those beautiful mouth watering Chocolate Chip Cookies?

  3. Fritz Coleman is retiring from KNBC after 39 years on the air. Are there any Bay Area TV On-the-air personalities that have or have had that length of longevity in the local market? https://www.latimes.com/entertainment-arts/tv/story/2020-06-17/nbc4-fritz-coleman-weather-retirement

  4. Rich saw a post last week where someone was asking you about the last time you where a guest host on KSCO. No sure we saw your answer.

You did well when you did guest host.

    1. I'd like to host a show again but it seems all the time I'm ready to broadcast, something always comes up. I have very bad luck. I think I'm jinxed.

    1. I think you should ask Christine because I have no idea but then again, what else is new.

    2. A little clarification, sorry. On your 6/10/20 blog post she wrote: "Btw,Rich...why won't you publish the picture I sent you, taken just the other day, the one with the reference to breasts? Why are you using a picture with Al Franken that is ten years old?".

      Love Christine.

  6. Yes, Rich...why not post the picture...? I sent it directly to your email. I'm not ashamed of being a geezer. It's not evil to have experience and wisdom, is it? It's just a funny little selfie, taken two weeks ago , after emerging from lap swim, where, because of covid, we can't have a locker room.. NO makeup, no hairdo, and a breast reference you can't miss.

  9. I see the 10 pm news is gone from the KPIX/channel 44 line-up; Veronica DLC is back, broadcasting from home and on that CBSN local news streaming service (good to see her back). Rich L., any updates on how this KPIX news and CBSN is working out? I haven't quite figured out when KPIX is streaming live news or not. Perhaps it already went away and it's just CBS national news streaming. Feel free to explain what's going on with CBS, whether local &/or national. I'm now trying "CBS All Access".

    1. KPIX is and has been, more importantly, in a heap of trouble. A station that is MISMANAGED, fraught with issues and people out of control. It's totally dysfunctional but I've been saying that for years now, obviously CBS doesn't give a shit.

    2. Nightbeat might officially be canceled. The link to it on the station's website is gone: https://cwsanfrancisco.cbslocal.com/category/nightbeat.tv/

    3. More KPIX-related: I just saw Kenny C. reporting while in a wetsuit, doing a how-to-get-out-of-a-riptide segment. He looked great, fit, and handsome. I think he's doing really well reporting in the field along with generating this public-interest story. He's excelling in the field.

    4. It's a wonder what ditching his spectacles has done for his appearance -- all this time seeing him on the early morning show, I never realized he's a babe!

    5. 9:07...Those weren't prescription glasses he was wearing while doing the anchoring, they were safety glasses. He was afraid his co-anchor might stab him in the eye during one of the commercials with a pencil.

She is 100% perfect, 100% of the time. She has a great smile!!

Why does ABC7 use different classifications for reporters. Dustin Dorsey, East Bay Journalist; Phil Matier, Contributor.

    1. Because the lawyers probably told them to do so..it's a way to pay for talent so not to have to pay them full time when they're "part-time..

    2. Could also be reporter ego. Kinda like my brother-in-law, who refers to himself as a Sales Associate at his job at Best Buy.

  11. Do you think we'll have any local newscasts in a decade? Some small markets they're disappearing.

    1. We will --just in a dramatically different manner --a new, radical look? Yes but we were radical 20 years ago.

  12. Do the anchors get to chose if they come into the studio or not. Several seem to have permanent setups at home while others seem to always be in studio?

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. As you indicated, the idea broadcasting from home is both prudent and convenient --the studio is secondary now and most NDs tell anchors to stay at home --with exceptions. Somerville and Ashley come to mind.

      Delete
    2. Huh? Pix is constantly in the studio. They're the worst offenders.

  13. Hi Rich: For the past several weeks I saw the Lovely & Talented KRON Weekday Traffic Maven Robin Winston co-anchor Channel 4's Sunday morning 7-10 am Newscast with the Great Marty Gonzalez. Not only is Ms. Winston very easy on the eyes she reads the news quite well without any of the histrionics of Darya Folsom. KTVU Channel 2 & KPIX Channel 5 currently do not employ any African-American women as on-air talent. I would love to see Robin Winston escape the horrible albatross known as KRON for greener pastures. I know you love the "sistahs" Rich. What do you think? Rich: I absolutely love your blog! Keep up your great work! Regards, Cary SF

  15. Mr. Lieberman, Can you tell me why local sports reporters don't cover sailing activities in the San Francisco Bay Area? There are usually races on Wednesday nights and on weekends, regardless of the weather. Some local sailors have international reputations and sail the most important races in the world, the Fastnet, TransPac, preparation for the next America's Cup, etc.. We hear nothing about it. Thanks for your answer. John in Alameda

    1. They certainly covered the America's Cup in SF back in 2013 when it was on the Embaracdero. All I can say is, John, probably a budgetary call as sailing is not atop the pie chart.

    3. Sailing? That's not a "sport." That's a leisure activity for the two percenters. Excuse me, but I have to go find my Sperry Top Siders and get my white sweater to tie around my neck.

  17. Rich...Newstalk stations are doing very well during this news intensive point in history (pandemic, horrid POTUS, protests). What are your thoughts on why KGO is trending down when they are putting out a good news focused product (John, Pat, Chip) on a powerful AM 810 signal?

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. I was just thinking about this --I think it's because that at the top of the day, Mark Thompson, whose ratings are terrible, is bringing down the KGO roster. It's not 100% Thompson's fault but he doesn't help the squad. KGO needs a TOP leader not a cadaver.
