I'M SUPPOSED to FEEL GUILTY because I referred to a KTVU anchor as "sexy?" Give me a break .Last I checked TV is a visual medium, you know the phrase, "You gotta face for radio?" There is no such line for TV. TV people are generally good-looking people, men or women, and hey tend to be smart too at least some which is a bonus. Hot-looking female, male TV News journalists should look good, it's called common sense. You gotta problem with that? Sue me.
*The audio of KTVU's news programs were supposed to be better because Fox was notified the news programs sounded as if Radio Shack equipped the Channel 2 studios with two-buck microphones. The sound did get better but now is back to KTEL audio. Wake up KTVU.
*Two major news sites in the Bay Ara were about to pick up my story about KPIX anchor, Veronica De La Cruz having the Coronavirus but held back because they didn't want to get sued. HiPAA laws are tough cookies.
*Or, to be more blunt, you don't see a lot of women on TV News who resemble Janet Reno. It is, again, a visual medium. Christine Craft can bitch and moan all she wants.
*Pat Thurston: pragmatic.
*John Rothmann has some asshole caller on KGO, a regular, "Michael from Cotati." He's a regular and comes off as a pompous windbag --and an ignoramus at that. The other night, the windbag was talking some Trump gibberish and needed to be flushed but Rothmannis too nice and dignified. Too bad nebbish Mike isn't the same.
*Quite simply, Thurston is the BEST interviewer on the local airwaves. Radio or TV, I don't care.
*If Frank Somerville were to eventually run for mayor of Oakland, I wouldn't be surprised. Matter of fact, I'd be stunned if he didn't run. Because he'd win and Frank is a passionate guy.
*Yeah, poor KRON, a strong-signal, clear channel independent that could fetch $500 Mill, stay tuned.
*Now offering buyouts and in the midst of furloughs, San Joe's NBC O and O, KNTV, NBC Bay Area.
*Doug Sovern o KCBS making his own promos with the Guv Newsom actuality and that's just sort of tacky. Sovern is a good reporter which makes it even more sickening,.
*Now added to his weather resume, Stan Bunger, class clown, the giggling has reached epic proportions at 855 Battery.
*More KRON: in this case, it's all about the hardware. The software? Not so much.
*A current KTVU source and a prominent one at that even agrees with me: Bill Martin is really having a tough time of it.
*Kit Yarrow died last week She was a consumer reporter and longtime contributor on KGO-TV and KCBS. Cause of death, ovarian cancer. Yarrow was only 61 and yes, it's a cliché, but much too soon.

Yes but you never refer to Mike Miback as "cutie."
I believe I once saw him refer to Henry Tenenbaum as a "hot piece of ass" but I might be mistaken.
DeleteOr maybe it was me. Actually yes...I think it was me.
Hot piece of ass...
DeleteWell, one of those words is correct.
>>Or, to be more blunt, you don't see a lot of women on TV News who resemble Janet Reno.<<
ReplyDeleteYou mean, who look like they've been dead for 3-1/2 years?
>>*Yeah, poor KRON, a strong-signal, clear channel independent that could fetch $500 Mill, stay tuned.<<
There's no such thing as a "clear channel" TV station. Clear Channels were class 1-A AM stations back in the day. (Even there, the concept has been sunsetted.) KRON is a Full Power TV station, just like KTVU, KPIX, KGO, KQED and KNTV, nothing more or less.
And if you actually believe anyone would pay anything like $500 Million for KRON these days, you need to stop patronizing the local weed dispensary.
Geez, get your friggin' facts right.
When you see dotcoms run by 27-year-olds with no business acumen and no known way to make money fetch a billion dollars and more, Rich's statement doesn't seem so ludicrous.
DeleteInvestors aren't logical, despite what they may claim.
There is nothing wrong with being clean and well-coiffed if you are on television frequently. The problem with your approach, is that you don't just comment on someone looking presentable, you comment on whether they sexually excite you. You, repeatedy, treat women on television as if they were hookers to be graded by you. I never "bitched", nor "moaned". I refused to be a victim. I filed a Title VII lawsuit and scared the bejesus out of the whole industry, a good thing. Take off all your clothes, Rich, and get a look at yourself in a full length mirror. Should you really be going after anyone's appearance? you know the answer, and so does everyone else. Some of the most average looking people have been the most successful anchors and reporters Think DAve McElhatton and a host of others. By now, you should know this.
ReplyDeleteWOW! For the first time I agree with Ms. Craft. Well put.
DeleteIt's a May miracle.
I agree with Rich. And Craft's responses are overly defensive.
DeleteMy goodness, Craft. I think that Rich is a good looking man, in a unique way.

Hi, Rich.
Well put CC.
DeleteThis almost makes up for the time you cut me off while I was arguing with you about something on air at KGO 10 years ago.
Your belief that only sexually titillating reporters and anchors get ratings is full of holes. In my own situation at one job, when I left Kansas City, the ratings came out,and for the first time in years, KMBC was number one for the two nightly newscasts I anchored. I was told that people didn't like the fact that I knew the difference between the American and National League and that I knew what the DH was. It wasn't true
ReplyDeleteChristine you lost case on appeal, anything you say is taken in that context.
ReplyDeleteRich gets bonus points for using Janet Reno and Christines Craft’s names in the same sentence.
ReplyDeleteKit Yarrow, COVID 19 related?? Maybe they'll find a way to report it that way.
ReplyDeleteYou obviously didn't read the whole article, "Cause of death, ovarian cancer."
DeleteSo lucky to have Craft in our presence; that seems to be at the core of her egomaniacal comments.
ReplyDeleteYour mention of Christine Craft reminds me of the times she sat in for Belva Davis on “This Week in Northern Cal”. Craft talked way too much and kept interrupting the panelists when they were speaking. I found her extremely annoying. Belva knew when to let the panelists speak and when to jump in. That was one of my favorite programs, but it was hard to sit through when Ms. Craft substituted for her.
ReplyDelete- I think Lieberman really, really rubbed Craft the wrong way.
ReplyDelete- The Firm is cheap, because they have to pay the Primetime News Channel Enablers yuge salaries.
- Just when PIX thought they had a mess with VDLC, it gets worse.
- The only time you will see Janet Reno these days is if John Lithgow dresses in drag on Colbert, Kimmel, or Fallon's show.
- Thurston may be further helped by growing fact-finder outlets.
- Michael from Cotati must be having too much Tecate.
- May Thurston continue to provide blanket coverage of COVID-19.
- So that's why Schaaf will say goodbye in 2022.
- C'mon, Telemundo! Just buy KRON and get it over with!
- San Jose isn't the only big NBC city dealing with furloughs.
- Newsom is too busy to worry about being used by Sovern.
- Is Bunger mailing it in?
- English MyNetworkTV should be turning to Spanish NBC.
- Easier to let Bill Martin mail it in than buy him out.
- Most Ovarian Cancer sufferers, living and now deceased, had the cancer long before the pandemic hit. Kit Yarrow did a fine job, covering consumer news for all the stations. Another too soon.
I agree with Christine, I like some of the blogs Rich writes, some I like a lot, others not so much this is one them. Yes, of course when someone is on TV they need to be presentable. I work retail, I need a certain image to inspire customer's to buy and have confidence in me helping them find the right clothing, but that has nothing to do with sex appeal, and since I'm in Christine's age group, that ship has sailed, I have on occasion contributed to this blog, because for the most part I like it, but sometimes I regret it. I follow other bloggers and they seem to do fine without writing overt sexist blogs.
ReplyDeleteYup.
DeleteRich back to censoring comments again. There goes that $500 donation I was going to make.
ReplyDeleteSomeone needs to get laid.
ReplyDeleteI've generally enjoyed listening to Christine Craft on KGO over the years, though she could be sometimes annoying (like anyone). I wish she would return.
ReplyDeleteIn the song "Dirty Laundry" (about skeevy news broadcasting apparently) by Don Henley, there is a line "We all know craft is king". Is this a reference to Christine Craft? She was big in the news back around that time with her "not deferential to men" lawsuit, so it kind of made sense. Something I've wondered for over 35 years.
Well, whatayaknow. All these years, and I thought he was saying "craft". D'oh!
Delete"We all know that CRAP is king"...not Craft
ReplyDeleteBut you were close.
Crap is still King in Henley's view. Henley always dedicates the song to Rupert Murdoch.
DeleteIt's unfortunate that the women you appear to be wetting yourself over are so weak in the ego, and dependent on the opinions of men, that they would even consider it a complement of any sort to be considered "sexy."
