Stephanie Sierra is a reporter at KGO (ABC7) --she's been there less than three months but has already garnered attention and not the kind of attention I'm sure she's looking for.
Sierra is the daughter of powerful Peninsula congresswoman Jackie Speier. Her husband, the Dr. Steven Sierra, (the husband of Jackie and father of Stephanie), was killed in an auto accident in 1994, the victim of a DUI.
Sierra, who came to Circle7 from Colorado Springs' ABC affiliate, KRDO, has drawn the ire from many rank and file staffers who complain, among other things, it was her mother's position in Washington that got her the gig in SF to begin with; furthermore, she's apparently not the most brightest bulb on the planet. Sierra has already drawn a key alliance with KGO veteran and influential anchor, Kristen Sze , who has become one of her station favorites. Sze is buddy-buddy with former KGO and ABC anchor retiree, Cheryl Jennings, who was also very close to Speier. What a coincidence. This is sort of making sense now if you connect the dots. It's nothing onerous mind you but perhaps, an inconvenient truth.
I've watched the unspectacular Sierra and while I've seen better, I can't say she's not entirely terrible, she's certainly on the right track so fa-- I just hope she understands cranky people in high places make for jealousy central and we have what appears to be a budding phenomena at 900 Front.
Get out the cocktails.

ReplyDeleteI have not seen this young lady, however Channel 7’s biggest problem (other than Reggie) has to be Kumasi. First I thought it was the name, the lack of preparation, totally unprofessional demeanor and the nappy headed pickaninny look. But after I saw her with “Okra” I realized what the real problem is-she’s uppity.
ReplyDeleteMight Larsen be the source of the Sierra jealousy? Being respected by Sze helps Sierra a ton. And if she can earn respect from Ashley & Finney, then the nepotism complaint is out the window and news merit starts to take shape. I'm sorry Kumasi has slipped the past few months. Had hopes for Kumasi.
