*The Sacramento wing of the Trump re-election paid-for media; aka: Armstrong and Getty were playing clips of Bernie Sanders rough-edged takes from the DEM debate and mocked his chatter by saying he sounded garbled and old. He did sound old but the twofus-doofus should practice what they preach: The same morons made mincemeat of those who made fun of Bob Dole's image during the '96 campaign. Ditto John McCain in 2008. I'm no Bernie fan but that really doesn't matter here: you have these radio clown anal warts with FAKE laughter tracks in the background and their claim of being neutral is a major hoot! The only thing they haven't done on air is to lick Trumps boots.
*So it sounds like a great idea in theory but Roberta Gonzales ain't coming back to KPIX when Paul Deanno splits for another city. Roby is supposedly enjoying her freedom and an independent TV broadcaster, pitch lady, and electronic raconteur --that said, KPIX could do worse in a new hire who'll probably be some benign weekend fill-in or a young bumpkin from the Midwest who works cheap.
*Deanno's impending departure says a lot about the situation at PIX where anybody and everybody would love to leave in a SF second but you gotta feed the family, remember. The morning is a disaster with control freak/diva, Michelle Griego, surviving for the moment because she's a body and is pleasant to observe --as if she had options; she doesn't. So the station is stuck with her and vice-versa.
* Who takes a two-week safari in Africa in the fall? KGO's insufferable morning tonsil, Mark Thompson, who can see the handwriting on the wall thus who really cares. Thompson has had less interest than a New Jersey time share. He might as well book a cruise in November with his boyfriend, Ronnn Owens, last heard chirping yet another cruise which the morning bridge club in Danville is even sick hearing.
*The latest verbal miscarriage, trite, uber-irritating phrase, "IN MY OPINION" has overtaken "AT THE END OF THE DAY"--it' now rather SOP on radio-talk shows, especially sports. "In. My.Opinion?" OF COURSE it's YOUR OPINION! What else could it be? The "In my Opinion" BS is another attempt to derail something that is unpopular about to be stated. The host thinks that by saying, "In My Opinion" will add more substance when all it really does is add useless jargon...in my opinion.
*KTVU: more weathermen than the Weather Underground. But that will soon change.
*This crap about the old demo is crap. George Will is pushing his late 70's and yet I could listen to George Will anytime, any day --go eat a millennial and stuff it!
*Gil Gross, the mighty ticket to KGO Radio youth and invigoration in the morning. Gil has good teeth though.
*KGO-TV weekend daytime anchors making a case for local TV News version of Whack-a-Mole. Who is it this week?
I'm a fan of Mary Lee myself. I'm one of the few Liebermanites who actually enjoys the PIX 5-7pm. I'd love to see Lee on after Deanno leaves. Knows weather, intelligent, damn good looking and her voice is pleasant (I hear on KPIX in the mornings). Lee gets my vote.
