415 MEDIA BREAKING:

Natasha Zouves is leaving KGO TV (ABC7) to begin a Stanford Journalism Fellowship:

415 MEDIA Has the memo sent from News Director, Tracey Watkowski-Silva, to staff earlier today:

News Team:

I want to share some exciting news about our colleague Natasha Zouves.  She has been chosen for the prestigious John S. Knight Journalism Fellowship at Stanford University.

The JSK Fellowship website explains what Natasha will be doing as a fellow:

The JSK Journalism Fellowships support diverse journalists from around the world who are deeply engaged in exploring solutions to journalism’s biggest problems. We focus on accelerating change in the journalism industry to improve the access to information people need to create and sustain democratic communities.

This is a big commitment and something that Natasha is passionate about pursuing.  She will be devoting all her time and energy to this fellowship, which will prevent her from continuing to work at ABC7.

Tom and I want to thank Natasha for her contributions to ABC7 News over the past four years, including re-launching the ABC7 Morning News in 2016.  I know how much Natasha has enjoyed working as a journalist in her hometown, and how proud she is of winning two NATAS NorCal Emmy awards during her time at KGO.

Natasha’s last day will be Tuesday September 3rd.   Please join us for goodbye cake and to congratulate Natasha on this next chapter in her life.

  1. John S. Knight...any relation to Ted Knight aka Ted Baxter of WJM-TV in Minneapolis, Minnesota fame?

  2. Not to be outdone, Berkeley will now celebrate Reggie with a phallus shaped cake. More at 11.

  3. I just saw her at Graton Casino, celebrating, getting hammered and saying to Security, “Hey Baby, let’s Slap the Ham!!”

  4. so 3 of the 4 from the 2016 KGO morning zoo are gone and we are left with Reggie. I guess Castro jumped ship too soon.

  5. Hope she gets a new wardrobe for her new position, one that doesn't look like she's on her way to a cocktail party -- a little grown-up dignity goes a long way in academia.

  6. Really....Who cares?

  7. Congratulations to this hard worker for reaching higher for personal betterment. Way to go and best wishes.

  8. Best wishes to N. Zouves. Even though I seldom watch the a.m. news, I will miss the option of seeing her when I do. It will be interesting, particularly on this blog, as to who will be chosen for the co-anchor spot on ABC7.

  9. Castro must be kicking herself. She could have had the slot by default.

SERIOUSLY? She swallows. That's the only explanation I can think of.

AH! THAT explains it! Diversity. If she had a WASPY or Catholic name, fuggetabouddit!

Actually that says more about you than it is about Natasha.

    2. I love it when KKKonservative KKKristian republiKKKan White guys get their panties twisted in a knot every time a non-white person gets accepted/hired/wins an award.

    3. If her last name wasn't already Zouves and she wasn't an ethnic type she could change it to something like Sasaki to get ahead.

A couple of Trumptards who bring out the "my-life-sucks-because-the-minorities-are-taking-away-my-job" bullshit White GOP talking point every time a minority gets a job/promotion/acceptance into a program.

  11. dear 11:21 So they rejected your application because you didn't have the journalistic credentials? Here's a clue for you. Most countries have journalists, all over the world. They are all skin colors, genders, ages, religions, lack of religions, and points of view.

    2. I'm not a journalist.

Most countries DO have journalists of all colors. Except in the USA, where the ones who get scholarships and huge promotions that are in the spotlight must be People of Color. Latinas are the flavor right now but it varies from time to time.

Many good US journalists have in fact gone to Europe, where they hire more on merit than skintone.

  12. Hopefully, Natasha will not slip on any cake frosting that might have fallen on the floor. She might miss 10 months of her Fellowship.

  14. Sounds like an ultra liberal academia circle jerk where nothing that matters to anyone is actually done. yay us!

    1. So, have you always been intimidated by top-flight academic institutions? Do you seriously think that Stanford, a home for big brains, concentrates its efforts on "nothing that matters to anyone"? Where did you matriculate, McDonald's University?

  15. I honestly don't know so many people seem to dump on Natasha Zouves so much. I mean, really, WHAT is wrong with her? She reads the news really well, with perfect diction; She is personable with the inter-anchor chats; she is perfectly made-for-tv, with unquestionable tv appeal. So, what gives? I DO understand why she is leaving, IF this is a good thing, which I honestly don't know what the heck a Journalism Fellowship at Stanford is anyway! I mean, I am assuming this is a paying gig, so what will she actually be DOING? But considering all the flack she gets, this seems to be a great way to get the heck outta' Dodge!

    1. Reasons why???
Lack of experience, over-rated with possible connection, bad soft voice, exaggeration when reading off the lines, over-reacting like a smarty, bad taste wearing the same old dress over and over, sarcastic bad acting feeling her fall let others down, "evil" using her image look and big smile to kick out the lovely Jessica Castro and respected Kristen Sze both over qualified for the morning spot than her. One more thing, her laugher is so disgusting and fake, someone should bash the farewell cake than sharing it piece by piece telling how much they love her. Is she baking the farewell cake, she loves to bake?????

    2. @22:34 It's petty human jealousy from people who are insecure and unhappy with their lives, pure and simple.

      Delete
    3. It's a great way to escape the inept management at ABC7.

      Delete
    4. Jealousy. Plain and simple. Written by guys (I'm assuming) sitting at home in their underwear, with nothing to do but blame their problems on those a little more fortunate.

  16. So basically she hasn't wanted to be at channel 7 for the past year or so. But I'm sure there will be tears and what not at the cake thing because everyone has been such a pleasure to work with and management can thank her for everything she has done to help elevate the morning news.

She's been there for 3 years, missed 9 months with a concussion, comes back and 3 months later, voila. She has a fellowship at Stanford. Yep, nothing to see here. (eye roll)

    Bye Natasha.

  17. Please don't let our princess ditch her pretty dresses and Venus razor...I don't think I could handle a hairy legged "Stanfordmatized" Natasha.

Send Natasha gift cards for Forever 21 and V.S so we don't completely lose her.

  18. Why couldn't she just stay part time at KGO while doing this? Something like on Saturday or Sunday only (maybe that would interfer with her party life, wouldn't want to be seen working on a weekend. Methinks that maybe her dad, head of that fertility clinic, made a contribution to Stanford that sort of eased this fellowship her way. It wouldn't be the first time. Let's watch for her name on the roster of some sports team there...

  19. She's working at a major station in SF? What the heck would this fellowship do for her as a career credential?

    ReplyDelete
  20. She has 0 gravitas. Hopefully, she graduates with some.

  21. And when does she pay any dues?

  22. One last time for the "trailer trash" people to play their Natasha hatred and jealousy cards!

  23. Well, at least there was someone who wanted the job in the morning.

  24. I AGREE about the lund/pappa "potty humor". I add tolbert to that as well. Can I drive in a car with my young daughter and listen to sports talk without my daughter asking me "whats a dildo" or have her ask me about a reference to anal sex, or a mans penis. Even as an adult alone, why would I want to hear about sex toys,or anal sex. What would I even need to hear a half hour segment on a brand of beer.If my wife or kids are in the car....KNBR is not on for sure. And also notice that a fun part of the show taking phone calls has all but vanished, More contempt for the fans
