  1. A great station in it's day.

  2. I loved KDIA. And I loved that if you went across the Bay Bridge you had to listen to it no matter what because the transmitter was right next to the Toll Plaza.

  3. Yep, 1965. Just catching up on this Motown Monday. Love seeing How Sweet It Is atop the charts, as well as Come See About Me.
Ray Charles was just getting over a drug addiction when his hit reached the charts. The Righteous Brothers' reach with soul stations was out of this world at the time. And eventually, after Willie Mitchell percolated a hit, he became the best record producer for the one and only Reverend Al Green. Also can't forget Little Anthony. Belva Davis with the news at the time before moving to KPIX a year later.

  6. Let's not forget Joe Tex. Back then James Brown was known as "Soul Brother No. 1"
