Larry King |
WANT A LOVELY RUMOR ON THE STREET?
How about Larry King, Larry --Freaking!--Open Phone America --yes, that Larry King on KGO Radio!
I thought this nugget was born in the booster club, something along the lines of The Onion unleashing their latest brand of fiction.
Then again, Larry has a ton of overhead in case you haven't heard.
He's up there in years but two hours of talk? Beats working.
"Brisbane, California, Hello!"
UPDATE 4-29: Larry King suffered a heart attack last week; TMZ has the story; I think it's safe to say, the KGO deal is on hold if it ever had legs to begin with.
That would be f$#%ing awesome. I'd be listening.
ReplyDeleteEspecially now that he's starting to really lose his marbles.
DeleteHell yes!!!
ReplyDeleteBaltimore Maryland! Hello . . .
ReplyDeleteThis is the Mutual broadcasting network.
I'm looking for some red meat here, pal. You're feeding us pabulum.
ReplyDeletePortland laugher, hello...
ReplyDeleteHe's still alive??
ReplyDeleteHe's 20 years past his prime just like Ronnnnn but better than A&G or that crap on late nights and weekends. Sign him.
ReplyDeleteAnother Fossil to Jurassic Radio Park...More Live but Not Local. Lots of Fish Oil Ads.
ReplyDeleteFolks, ya gotta go to Duke Ziebert's, now with fouahteen convenient locations in greater Frisco!
ReplyDeleteand ryan scott will be first to suck up/brown nose him like he does everyone else
ReplyDeleteRyan's mouth is pretty full right now, but I'm sure he can make Larry his "buddy" and fill it even further.
DeleteI love Larry King! He wrote the forward to my book, has always been a kick ass interviewer who can get people to say things they won't say to anyone else.. I hope the rumor is true.
ReplyDeleteChristine,
DeleteLarry only works for the big bucks. Millions with CNN and then the Russian network.
How in the hell can bankrupt Cumulus and KGO afford to sign a guy like that? Dumbest rumour I've ever heard.
You never know, nony. He made millions at CNN doing television years ago. Perhaps he is more affordable doing radio to many stations. He is a geezer, even older than I am. He might work for lots less than he used to. So, it is called a "rumor", but it is intriguing, especially to those of us who have been interviewed by the man, himself. Another great interviewer I met for the first time was Ronn Owens. I had done hundreds of interviews with tv and radio people all over the country. Owens asked questions, very thoughtful, edgy ones that no one else had thought of. Similarly his spouse to be, Jan Black at KCBS was smart as a whip and conducted a very lively interview. I was impressed with both and miss the days when KCBS had a live, local talk show to balance out the repeating news cycle. I don't know if Larry still has his "bite", but I'm guessing he'll never lose it until he departs.
DeleteIf Mr King replaces John Batchelor or A&G, I'm down.
ReplyDeleteLarry prides himself on not doing research before interviews which makes for some wonderfully bad train wrecks. He's like an infirm grandfather gumming his soup at the rest home. A classic is his interview with Jerry Seinfeld after his top rated sitcom went off the air and Larry actually thought the show had been canceled. Jerry's response deserved a chef's kiss.
ReplyDeleteI'm a Deplorable who liked hearing Christine Craft on the radio.
ReplyDeleteShe's a high quality American Gal who seems to enjoy herself during each shift. Even animals like her.
Not phoning it in at all. Someday a movie will be made about her.
Maybe starring someone like Jennifer Lawrence.
No. I was not paid for this post.
"No. I was not paid for this post"
DeleteYou should have been...
Hello Christine .. do you still host at KGO from time to time ? It's been years sense I've listened to that station but your shows were always a highlight for me when i did.
ReplyDeleteI'm watching the Warriors pregame. Greg is acting like he has a burr caught between his thighs. Any comment?
ReplyDeleteI think his heart attack over the weekend probably slowed this way down...
ReplyDeleteThat could of been just gas, as we know Larry has done that well, with his legendary farts on his shows.
DeleteDick Cavett would be the better choice;
ReplyDeletewould he do tv without pictures?
Larry's heart couldn't handle the JG BJ.
ReplyDelete"Pleasanton... I'M COMING!"
I think it's possible that he read your story, thought he might have to work at KGO, and was struck by a heart attack right then and there.
