Sylvia Chase dies
From complications due to brain cancer
*ABC News --"20-20" Anchor
*Came to KRON in 1986 --highest paid news anchor --$1.2 Million a year annually.
*Pioneer for local news in Bay Area; ultimately her stint at KRON failed but she left a legacy.
I have many personal stories for Sunday.
How/why did her stint at KRON fail?
ReplyDeleteHow can she fail when an idiot like Wendy Tokuda was kept on for years?
Sylvia Chase was a good reporter, but she wasn't a good anchor. She always seemed a bit lost and confused, and it was painful watching her on KRON.
DeleteI thought Wendy Tokuda was a good anchor until her last few years. She'd been in the Bay Area for a long time, which gave her credibility. Chase came off as an out-of-towner who never had a deep familiarity with the Bay Area.
As usual, looks count especially in the past.
DeleteSo much for pay inequities between Men and Women. She did pretty well.
ReplyDeleteNice words from Bob Jimenez on the exKRONvicts Facebook page. Jim Paymar - a 'like' to the posting of her passing, but no words, and continued on to normal posting on his own page. Surprised to be unable to finds words from Jim on her passing, as he was her first coanchor here.
ReplyDeleteWas the pairing not amicable? I thought Jim left of his own accord to host the nationally syndicated USA TODAY show.
