IF WORD ON THE STREET is correct, two stations in town, KPIX and KTVU requested younger women reporters to think twice about covering the firestorm in Paradise. Maybe they were thinking ahead. The air is really bad here; think of what it's like up there.

*I'm no weatherman obviously but even I know that our current weather pattern; temperatures in the 70's away from the ocean; sunny skies into next week; no rain in sight; it's not a drought. It's our regular weather. It would be nice to hear some real reporting on just how much climate change we're experiencing and not the same, 20x-repeated forecast that wastes too many good minutes. The TV guys like Hackney and Deanno could pontificate on this pattern of high pressure eternally perched off our coast but all we get is the same spiel: "no rain in sight.." Yeah, duh! On radio, it's even worse, don't get me started.

*As I praise KCBS for its top-notch coverage of the disaster, a minor annoyance: why do any sports reports at :15 and :45 past the hour on Friday night when no local team was playing and the Internet had all the scores for the betters. The more logical direction would have been to use the sports' minutes for more news from up north. Somehow that seems way too logical in my book but what do I know.

*The fake, celebrity chef on the Saturday night KGO taped show once again planted calls to his show from his friends but KGO doesn't seem to care. Maybe they had too much arugula on their plate.

*Chip Franklin makes more then 100 grand, that I know. A lot more then that. Not all talk-shows hosts on radio, even today, perform on the cheap.

*IT TOOK JACK SWANSON a month to say he'd prefer the beach; funny, he left KCBS after two years saying almost the exact same thing. Jack, we know you love the beach so I'm assuming you're going to stay retired this time in your "consultant" position and really not take another gig because that beach excuse is getting real old.

Meryl Streep at KGO Friday
*In 2000, KTVU grossed almost  50 million dollars in ad revenue. In 2017, they made less then a quarter of that.

In fact, at one point several years ago, the KTVU "10 O'clock News" accounted for 35% of the TOTAL Gross Revenue of then owner, Cox Media. Those were the days my friend.

*So yeah, Gary Radnich on his KNBR show Friday, talked about his dog's shit for a good hour making it official that the show is pretty damn shitty.

*Why Meryl Streep was spotted inside KGO-TV studios on Friday is a mystery to me but maybe she was taping a PSA and Disney happily obliged --the Devil wears Mickey Mouse.

*KRON News is so antiseptic the interns could be on the air delivering the news and it would be an improvement. I've never watched a more comically boring, innocuous, benign news program that the albatross station puts out on a nightly basis. Oh and by the way, that Ken Wayne hire is a real winner! (yawn)

Maybe he makes the big bucks because he knows the difference between "then" and "than," like the rest of us post-4th graders...

    1. Point taken, but please, Chip is so dim witted and scatter brained he has yet to put a complete sentence or thought together.

  2. re: KTVY and KPIX repotedly requesting that "younger female" reporters not do their jobs, if you can't cover a fire or be expected to cover a fire because of your gender, you aren't a reporter, and the station you work for is full of it. I know many female reporters who have covered bad fires and risked ;their lives to do so, myself included. What, these twinkies think being a reporter is all about stiletto heels, plastic boobs and tight bandage dresses, captured on endless selfies? All real reporters face dangerous stories. This is bullshit.

    1. Cue Liz the Cookie. If she were to step in and show her true moxie, maybe wearing a cape, she'd be a heroine to all of us doubters. And then, just maybe, Rich you'd stop with the negative comments about her lack of spontaneity.

  3. I hear Jack likes the beach...correction bars at the beach, further correction, bars anywhere.

  4. Seriously, why are they shielding women reporters? Are their delicate lungs somehow different from those of men? I thought they wanted equality? Oh, wait, no, like minorities—or certain ones at least—what they really want is special treatment. Silly lil' me.....

  6. Gary Radnich talking dog shit?
    ...like his haloween candy?

Did the dog shit have "candy corn" in it?

  7. Rich: Repeat after me..."KCBS Sports at :15 and :45 brought to you by..." Why flush the sponsorship dollars when SF itself isn't on fire, it's 90 seconds away and the anchors could probably use the breather?

  8. "KTVU 2000 Revenue: $50 Million, 2018: $15 million".

Interesting. In 1994, I remember hearing Radnich was making $600,000 on KTVU. Was wondering why it was almost the same today. Now I know why.

  9. Obviously the female reporters' pheromones would attract bears and exasperate the situation.

  11. I'm curious what happened to Jaclyn Dunn who has been missing in action at CBS SF for three weeks and counting - did she jump ship like he weather gal with little or no notice?
