KRON items first

*Rebecca Strom, the KRON morning weather and traffic reporter is leaving. She's expecting her second child and won't be returning to the station, I'm told by a station source.

I don't know if her pregnancy is the chief reason why she's leaving permanently but hey, at least she has her priorities right.

*Steve Aveson's last day is April 21st.

Art Bell
*Art Bell, the longtime syndicated radio broadcaster who hosted and created the AM "Coast-2-Coast" franchise died on Friday night. Bell was 72.

He'd been battling a medical issue for sometime and was reclusive in his later years.

  1. so sorry to lose the great Art Bell! a true legend who kept millions glued to their AM radios back in the day yet it seemed that he was talking to each of us personally. he will always be in our best radio memories...but knowing Art, he might start broadcasting to us from the Other Side! :)

  2. Art Bell was a Master Story Weaver. There was no one better.

  3. Strom is an example of why, when given a choice between an equally qualified man and woman, I'll hire the man. Women always get pregnant and quit.

  5. The problem with the Bell show is that the tinfoil always seemed to interfere with the signal.

  8. Phil Hendrie's Art Bell bits were dead on both in creation and content. Broadcasting from his bunker complex 500 ft below the Saskatchewan tundra usually with a visit from Johnson Jameson, the scientist drummed out of NASA because he "knew too much.". East of the Rockies..Abba or Gloria Gaynor bumper music..Great radio.

  11. Wow, I had no idea Art Bell had died unti I read it here. Very sad. I could not go to sleep each night in college and after, without him on my radio. George Noory is a few tacos short of a combination plate, and has never been an adequate replacement. Art always asked good questions and challenged his guests more outlandish claims. Noory does neither. Art was always entertaining. He had a lot of weird drama even into his later years, but none of that matters compared to the enjoyment we got from listening. Good solid radio!
