A spy tells me the talk around media gulch is that Ken Wayne is headed to KRON ...makes sense because with Steve Aveson gone, they need a replacement.
Nothing is official but Wayne likes the Bay Area; this has legs.
Sure, the money might not be as good as the other stations, but a job is a job.
*Developing ...
I'd find it hard to believe they're paying more than Fox, even if Fox is cheap, and on the prestige-meter it's definitely a move far down, far far down, as in, How low can you go?
ReplyDeleteAsk Lawrence Karnow.
DeleteWayne is going from weekend anchor to weekday, that would pay more. He's never going to replace Summerville who gets decent ratings and is well liked. But, working at KTVU is more prestigious as it's a network station rather than KRON which is an independent. Ask all those folks who saw the perceived value of their contracts go down when KRON lost NBC affiliation.
DeleteWhy would he want to go to KRON... despite all their great intentions it is a shell of its former self. Besides, does he really want to work for/under Aaron Pero... give me a break.. nothing worse than a screamer for an ND...
ReplyDeleteWell, his girlfriend, the morning news wench, is a screamer too, I understand.
DeleteAre you serious? Bad choice and good luck getting more famous representing KRON 4. He could have gotten the next 10:00 news spot when Frank retires or leave the station. After they hired Andre Senior and what is happening between anchors inside the station, KTVU let him go. My only words to Ken, don't expect to get too high of a viewership when it comes to trusted news.
ReplyDeleteHow could he get Franks spot, when they had let him go???
DeleteTalk about the "Minor Leagues" Really?
ReplyDeleteKRON? You’re being pranked. If true, I feel sorry for a Wayne. But I don’t believe it.
ReplyDeleteKen Wayne doesn't give a shit about getting more famous. This is a great move for him, for KRON, and the bay area. He gets off of weekends and works in SF now, and we get to watch him 5 nights a week. Watch for an uptick in KRONs numbers, Ken Wayne will move the meter
ReplyDeleteOK Ken lolololol
DeleteDon't do it Ken!
ReplyDeleteWho knows...Ken Wayne most likely wanted to remain in the Bay Area, & to be an Anchor at one our local News Outlets. But yes, KRON is definitely a step down, but unfortunately there's just so many News Outlets...
ReplyDeleteI will laugh so hard if he goes to KRON.
ReplyDeleteThat's gonna send a real clear message to everyone else in the B.A.
"We Own You No Matter What".
Why KRON?
ReplyDeleteMaybe because Ken (and his wife) really like the Bay Area...and want to stay here...and that KRON is the only station willing to hire him.
KRON needs any help it can get!
ReplyDeleteFox probably got tired of his insufferable liberal crap on social media. Ooooo how edgy you hate Republicans and Trump. Just another liberal pretending to be a journalist.
ReplyDeleteAgreed. He needs more integrity, like the Fox journalists have. Sean Hannity for example.
DeleteLying or stupid? Hannity is an opinion show. The network and Hannity are completely clear about that fact. Wayne is the one with no integrity. Pretending to be an unbiased journalist. It's called lying.
DeleteIf you have ever been out of work, a paycheck is very welcome. As long as the source is legal.
ReplyDeleteI rather see him as a morning anchor on KPIX or KGO then going to KRON replacing Reggie and Kenny. Add another word, the two female reporters on both station needs to be replace with a refreshing start.
ReplyDeleteMore likely he'll join the crowd becoming a media rep somewhere.
ReplyDeleteHope so. I like Ken. I like Vickie. I like KRON. The pay is enough. PLUS he won't have to deal with Heather and Julie anymore. Win win.
ReplyDeleteWell, this would certainly elevate the standing of KRON on the local scene, and I'm sure Wayne would be delighted to get away from whoever is encouraging his female co-anchors to dress in cocktail-appropriate black lace slut attire. The women at KRON are dressed appropriately for their professional standing lending even more credibility to their reportage.
