THE LONGEST TENURED SPORTS TV ANCHOR IN BAY AREA REACHES TENTATIVE DEAL WITH FOX/KTVU...

#415 MEDIA ALERT

Mark Ibanez, the veteran and popular sports anchor at KTVU (FOX2) has reached a tentative deal to remain at the station for another 4 years, sources close to both parties have told 415 Media.

Ibanez is expected to sign the contract extension early next week.

"It's a done deal; they just need to dot the i's and cross the t's," said the source.

Ibanez is a year away from his 40th go-round at Jack London Square. He began in 1979; a Bay Area native working under the tutelage of Gary Park, then KTVU's #-1 Sports anchor and himself, an iconic figure. Park died in 2009.

Ibanez's 4-year re-up will keep him at Channel 2 until at least 2022.

  4. How about 10 more years showing some respect for long time anchor on KTVU?

  5. I've never had any use for team sports, and even less for Gary Park's unchecked superiority complex.

For those who have never experienced Park's delivery, just watch Motorweek's host John Davis and you'll see what I mean.

  6. Congrats Mark. Locking in at a good time - lots of ad dollars from the hot economy of the last year.

Bay Area TV has gotten away with a lot compared to the way viewership has been headed thanks to being such a hot ad market.
